Drummer Magazine and Events - The Leather Fraternity International, Inc. The gay leather culture authority, since 1975. It’s about what you wear, the places you go, what you like to do, and the men you like to do it with.

Drummer seeks to inform, entertain and inspire you, our subscribers and members, on those themes that interest you the most: leathersex, leatherwear, leather and rubber gear, S*M, bo***ge and discipline. Our goal is to celebrate masculine, gay leather sexuality that is free of misogyny, transphobia, and racism of any kind. By providing articles, fiction, photography and illustrations from writers

and artists who think as you do, Drummer reflects your scene and communicates ideas that resonate with how you live your life. Our aim is to create a fraternity of like-minded men that points the way through barriers to living your life as a leatherman to the fullest. It’s an antidote to religious bigotry, psychological doubletalk or misleading advice from anyone who would seek to deny the reality of who you are, or worse, try to force you into believing that you’re wrong or should be some other way. Drummer does not recommend or advocate any particular action or practice, but we defend your right to choose how you live your life. At Drummer, we do more than support and defend free speech. We exercise it! Freedom to speak is the very life of Drummer, and as we primarily exist online, we stand alongside others who are working to keep the Internet free from being dominated by the influence of narrow private interests and government control or regulation. We recognize that no one stands alone. Everyone has something to contribute. We want you to be heard. Tell us what you think about anything related to our website and magazine. If you ask for it, we will deliver it, if it’s within our power. We salute those of you who celebrate your kinks and gay sexuality, and offer you here, at Drummer, a comprehensive source of information and other resources to support you in all of your leather pursuits. Drummer remains faithful to the 25-year tradition of the magazine, which has, since its beginning, carried the banner of freedom to be different. To quote Henry David Thoreau;
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music that he hears, however measured and far away. “In Bulldog’s fatherly toolbox is a tried and true device he offers to a boy—even to boys who do not think of themselves as being boys—who is facing a challenge that fills him with fear and feelings of inadequacy.

Bulldog takes the boy in his arms, and when he feels the boy relax, he says softly in the boy’s ear, “Imagine you and I are walking through the forest. You are to my right. You do not know where we are going but you trust me to guide us. You hear the crunch of dry leaves under my boots. You see the sunlight coming through the canopy of the trees. We come to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing is an old cabin. Just behind me you climb the three wooden steps. I swing open the door that creaks on the hinges and we enter together. The cabin is quiet. On all four walls are large glass windows so we can see if anyone approaches, but of course, out here in the middle of the forest, no one does.

In the light streaming in the southwest window, tiny flecks of golden dust are dancing. The cabin smells of leather and sawdust and woodsmoke. Here, with me in the cabin, you feel safe. So safe. So completely safe. There is no fear here, no sorrow. You feel the love I have for you. You know that there is nothing you could do that would cause me to ever take that love away.

My love for you is the polestar in the nighttime sky. I tell you to look up. You do and you see up in the rafters a red balloon with a string dangling from the stem. I lift up my hand and the balloon floats down to me. I take the string and I tie it around your right wrist.

We leave the cabin, down the three wooden steps, and with you on my right side, the balloon bobbing suspended on the string tied around your right wrist, we make our way back out of the forest.”

When the time comes for the boy to stand up to that challenge—the court appearance, the first round of chemo, the difficult conversation, the funeral, the meeting with his boss—Bulldog tells the boy to look at his wrist and he will see that the string is still tied there and the balloon is still bobbing from the string.”

FROM OUR EDITOR: “Father’s Day came a little early this year here at DRUMMER. It’s pretty common for most of us to have troubled histories with our dads. But there’s something about the Daddy/boy connection that gay men can’t get enough of. Be it longing for a childhood they never had or recreating one they did; the sheer attraction of an age dynamic; or the fantasy of crossing that line most don’t dare (but let’s be honest, there are those who have). For some of us it’s none of those things—we simply like being controlled. Or in control.

So let’s get into it. What you’ll find in this issue runs the gamut. Boys that are older. Young daddies. Daddies who are boys who are daddies. Family structures created entirely out of D/s in a variety of configurations. We’ve also got some extra Hard Reads, a different take on the question of ‘who’s a daddy’ and some good old-ffashioned dad/son bonding time thrown in for good measure.”

As we begin a new year, I’m thinking about the past. You see, 2025 is the 50th anniversary of Drummer®Magazine's inception. For the past few years, I have thought about our Golden Jubilee, what it means to everyone, and where I plan to steer Drummer®.

I’m excited to announce several developments in the coming months.

A collaboration of well-known contributing artists over the past years in the form of limited-edition coffee table books. A small clothing line of Drummer®Magazine issued wear by well-known designers, and finally, anniversary-sanctioned events in London as well as other cities.

Stay tuned to our social media accounts and sign up on the website for regular email announcements of upcoming developments.
