recently announced it’s testing a new longform blogging feature, Twitter Notes, that could launch soon. Notes can be up to 2,500 words, include photos, and can be edited after they're published.

This update would be the biggest change to word count since 2017, when Twitter increased the character limit from 140 to 280.

If you don’t think that social media matters for your business, think again! During my last visit to Lancaster I searched as I always do in new cities, on social media, to find the best local restaurants. We discovered Cafe 301, LLC. They had tons of beautiful photos of the food, I easily found their menu (which included vegetarian options), their hours were listed, they highlighted the fact that they were a woman-owned business, and had glowing customer reviews. We went for lunch and our experience matched the story on their social - our meal was SO delicious and the staff were kind and personable. Of course, when we were back in town this week we had to stop by again for lunch! The owner stopped by and chatted with us before we left and thanked us for coming by.

Can you run an amazing business, or in this case restaurant, without posting to social media or even having social media at all? Sure. But you’re missing out on a large customer base and it only continues to grow. More people than ever (especially Millennials/Gen Z) are utilizing social media to decide where they will spend money before ever stepping foot inside a business. They want to know that businesses are keeping up with the times and align with their values.

Take the time for social. Tell your story. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but put in the effort and you’ll see more people stopping by/supporting you because they liked what they saw.

Travel Tip: Next time you’re in the Lancaster area grab a coffee and avo toast, the French toast, salad, really anything from Cafe 301’s menu and you won’t be disappointed! ☕️ 🥑

When it comes to social media, I often hear professionals and business owners delaying posting until they feel like they have more time, until they can craft the perfect message, learn more about social, etc. While I firmly believe in the importance of developing a long term strategy and a skill set to support it, there’s something just as important.

Don't let fear of being perfect prevent you from starting. We are living in a world where authenticity matters more than ever, so just showing up on social goes a long way. Step outside your comfort zone and a share your message. It will resonate more than you think.

Crushin' it on Instagram isn't as easy as it used to be. If you're experiencing slow growth (or not growing at all), you're not alone. It can take time and trying several different approaches.

👉 Here's what I've learned:
- You need a content strategy for every platform. Some can crossover more than one, but it may need to be customized to be appropriate for each platform. Always be aligned with your overall content strategy.

- Create content your audience wants to share and save. Don’t ask them to do it because if it's compelling, they'll do it without you having to ask! For our audience it’s social media tips and advice, but look at your insights to see what resonates with your page or businesses’ followers.

- Keep your eyes on the analytics and data. A lot can be learned by viewing your insights and seeing which posts your audience responded to the best. You might find that images with people in them do better than photos without. Do more posts based on what is successful.

Digital strategy is SO important, even for more traditional industries. Here's why:

- I was recently searching for a company for a home project.
- I got most of my leads by searching Facebook groups and Nextdoor.
- I found one that looked very promising, but they had no social accounts. I started thinking… how reputable is a company that has no testimonials on the site AND no social presence?
- Another had a decent-looking website, but the social links directed to a personal Instagram account. Nothing wrong with that if the personal brand matches, but this was an account for a completely different industry.

Clients need to know that you are a business with real experience that suits their needs. There are many moving pieces but having a solid website, presence on social, and some videos can make a BIG impact.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a lawyer, archaeologist, and business owner. While I’ve been known to feel like a million bucks in a nice blazer, I’m not fond of dirt and bugs so it makes sense I took the business path!

I've been making a point to take it back to basics lately. What makes me happiest? What makes me feel like I'm using my natural gifts the most? What affords me the best quality of life? Lean into those things! I think sometimes we try to run from our "silly little daydreams" but I've found that mine were right all along.

I saw this advice recently shared on social media for business owners/professionals – "If you're only showing up on Instagram once a week or less, don't even bother." While I agree that consistency matters, I strongly disagree with posting every single day because you feel obligated. Here's what you should do instead of forcing social posts when inspiration isn't striking, you're really busy, etc.:

- Keep your followers updated! If something is going on, keep in touch with them, whether it’s via stories, email marketing, or a quick post.

- Create content when you ARE inspired. Work with photographers who take a bunch of photos to build content that you can use for a while, that way there’s no pressure to constantly work on developing new content.

Trying to stand out on social media can seem daunting with new features popping up and algorithms that nearly change daily. One of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes is, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

- Use emoji to supplement your copy, not to replace it. They won't always show up the same, so avoid using them to replace words or phrases entirely.

- If you’re unsure what an emoji means, check Emojipedia (emojipedia.org). It tells you exactly what each one means so there are no surprises!

- Yes. Diversity matters in emoji-land, too. Consider the audience you're speaking to when using skin-toned or gendered emoji. When in doubt, default to the yellow emoji as I find it to be the most inclusive, just like with stock photos, vary genders.
