Local journalism is nothing without photojournalism đź“·

With that in mind, we found our best (compelling, meaningful, vibrant, captivating and hard to believe) photos we published in 2025.

Here they are.

We absorb a lot in any given year. Whether good, bad or in between, the moments affect us. Local news and reporting documents those moments. And local news and reporting is nothing without the photojournalism — the images that at worst amplify and at best define the storytelling. We went back thro...

Giants junior Zach Baum had yet to find his shot early in his first varsity season — until Monday.

Thanks to a nudge from his coach, Baum sank four threes as he and Gray Kanter led Highland Park to a victory in the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic.

For Highland Park basketball, a shot doesn’t belong to the player who takes it. It belongs to the team. So when junior Zach Baum passed up a good look in the first half on Monday morning, he was not being selfless. “Every shot we take is our shot, not your shot,” Giants coach Ross Deutsch […...

A restaurant planned for Highland Park's Ravinia district will benefit from $250,000 in city grants.

Some councilmembers, though, were skeptical, leading to a 4-3 vote of approval.

Questions surrounding a restaurant interested in coming to Highland Park and the amount of grant money the city is proposing to give to them led to a split City Council decision in December. With a 4-3 vote, the council approved on Monday, Dec. 15, a $100,000 exterior improvement grant and a $150,00...

The Glencoe Village Board has green lighted a referendum for the April ballot that will ask voters about issuing $17 million in bonds for the library's expansion.

Glencoe residents now have several months to read up on a question that will likely determine the next chapter of one of the town’s storied institutions. Village trustees during their Dec. 11 meeting approved an ordinance that will ask Glencoe voters to weigh whether the village should issue $17.5...

The Walton — a five-story, 19-unit project — recently earned City Council approval after the plan was revised with a donation to the city's in-development place of remembrance and more robust landscaping.

A condominium development is coming to Highland Park after the City Council unanimously granted the developer final approval. The Walton, a five-story, 19-unit multi-family development, planned for 1650 Second St., was approved during the council’s final regular meeting of the year on Dec. 15. The...
