Just one week until The Ocoee Project, a multi-media stage show I wrote with the help of fellow Eastern professors Brian Day and Kristen Morgan, opens! It'll run in Eastern's Proscenium Theater October 15-20.
Weaving together live acting, video recorded scenes, and a gospel choir, The Ocoee Project tells the story of The Ocoee (FL) Massacre of 1920, the bloodiest day of white supremacist election-day violence in US history, and connects it to other incidents of African American voter suppression and elimination. It leaves you considering how different our country could be if such incidents didn't happen.
The Ocoee Project has been a wonderful collaborative project with Eastern colleagues, students, and alumni.
Come out and see it if you can!
