Scattered snow showers and flurries are expected through early to mid afternoon in association with a disturbance moving across the region. Any snow accumulations should be half an inch or less, but could still lead to isolated slick spots on area roadways, especially untreated surfaces. The more intense snow showers could also cause a sudden drop in visibility, so use caution and slow down if out driving through this afternoon.

An area of occasional flurries will move across much of the region today. The Plateau, southwest Virginia, and far east Tennessee mountains have the greatest chance of light snow accumulation. These areas could receive a dusting to 1/2 inch of snowfall.

The light snowfall may produce some snow covered roadways, especially secondary roads, bridges and overpasses, and higher elevations. Drive with caution and slow.

OBVIOUS: WE IGNORE THE ENVIRONMENT TO MAKE OUR LIVES EASIER... A study found that 87% of adults agree on the importance of being green, and over half believe it’s often ‘inconvenient’. Three in 10 admit trashing plastic food containers rather than washing them out and recycling them; 23% have requested a paper bill when they could have gone ‘paperless’; over half prefer plastic bags to lug around reusable grocery bags; almost a third refuse to hang laundry to dry naturally.

AMERICANS ARE READING A LOT LESS... A typical American adult spends just under 100 hours of reading a year — a big drop from the level we were at just a decade ago. The survey counted reading books, ebooks, newspaper articles and websites, but not social media. A decade ago, Americans were reading 500+ hours a year. Today, many Americans would rather scroll social media, watch YouTube, watch streaming shows or play computer or tablet games.
