Strictly the Sixties with Keith Semmel

Strictly the Sixties with Keith Semmel "Strictly the Sixties" was a weekly radio show which aired from 2004 through 2022. A splendid time was guaranteed for all!

“Strictly the Sixties” was a weekly radio show on WCCR 94.5 FM in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The program, hosted by Keith Semmel, debuted in the summer of 2004 and ran through the spring of 2022. Each episode surveyed some of “the big hits, near misses, and some of the unusual experimentation that were all a part of the pop music scene between 1960 and 1969.” Hour 1 typically began with a “Pre-Invas

ion” set of songs, music recorded prior to The British Invasion of 1964. Hour 2 always began with a triple-play from The Beatles, as well as tracks from the “Usual Musical Suspects” – Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Each week’s playlist sampled a variety of musical genres, including top forty pop, rock, rhythm and blues, soul, country, psychedelic, folk, folk-rock, progressive rock, instrumental, sunshine pop, easy listening, garage, surf, reggae, jazz-rock, and bubble-gum. Vintage commercials, stand-up comedy, and novelty records of the era were also included from time to time.
