We’ve had a few rough weeks with contamination. But this is what I love about mushroom cultivation. I can always make some more agar cups. And keep going.

I’ve had a few people ask me where I’ve been. How are the mushrooms and, most importantly, if I’ll be seen at the farmers market again. So I figured I’d give a small update. I’ve been upgrading.

-55 gallon pasteurizer to crank out more bags.

-Working on getting better genetics so I can provide better mushrooms for the community.

-better fans and humidity control to get the most of those new found genetics.

- and the best of all, what you see pictured down below. I’ve been working with an app that has allowed me to track everything dedicated to mushroom production in one place. From inventory tracking to lineage tracking. I’ve even been able to print very detailed and comprehensive labels with QR codes to track lineage and contamination rates!! This is by far the best thing I’ve invested in so far and it’ll definitely let me take this to the next level. I really appreciate all the support and impatience everyone has shown. This summer will have mush room for mushrooms 😁🍄 can’t wait to see y’all again on Saturdays

Even in terrible conditions. Mushrooms find a way. This fruiting block was one of my first recipes I was trying out. Nothing happened for a while. I figured I’ll open it up. See if that helps. Months went by and nothing, forgotten again. Until last week when these two little mushrooms made their appearance.

I’m going to shed a tear. They’re not done growing but they’re beautiful. I’ve heard some farms have oyster mushrooms who can get them to grow in just HOURS!

SUPPPEER MUSHROOMS! these blue oysters wait for nobody! Had to cut the bag earlier than I intended to because they started to grow inside the bag! Now they’re super small and we can’t really call these mushrooms because there wasn’t gas exchange. Now they’re open and can breathe freely!

I know we’re all waiting for those fresh mushroom photos, but while we wait, here’s a little experiment we’re doing! 5 different growing mediums. From seeds to corn to cardboard! Can’t wait to see which one preforms the best.
