Update: Nala & Gotti have been adopted! 💕

187 days have passed... Our hearts break for Nala and Gotti each night as we tuck them in and say goodbye for the evening, looking into their innocent, loving eyes. It has been 187 days without a family and home to call their own, and we're hoping to change that as soon as possible.

Nala (7 years old, black coloring) and Gotti (6 years old, gray coloring) have the kind of bond that can't be broken. Each night, they snuggle up close to one another, giving each other comfort. On walks, they are always side by side, sniffing what nature offers.

Two is better than one and here is why. They compliment each other in the best way—Nala is outgoing and loves to play and carry her toys around, while Gotti is a sweet and sensitive boy all about the cuddles and affection. They love being where the humans are, curious about how they can get involved, just to simply be by your side. They crave that human connection.

Could you be the one to turn their 187 days in the shelter into the start of the best chapter of their lives? Until then, we’ll continue to love and snuggle them. Reminding them how special and amazing they are. 💕

WE NEED YOU!

Our latest newsletter is dedicated to the fantastic fosters of Lab Rescue. We couldn’t do it without them! They play a critical part in our mission and in the lives of the dogs we take in. Fostering is not always easy. Rescued dogs do not arrive at the foster with perfect habits and training – they need varying levels of attention to prepare them for the right forever home.

We always need loving, committed fosters willing to meet basic needs with house and crate training refreshers, leash and behavior assessments, appropriate exercise, and LOVE. Our current priority is a need for dedicated fosters who are comfortable with or willing to learn how to support foster dogs with more specific needs, such as…

* No other dogs in the home
* Female-only home
* Bonded pairs – double the fun
* High-energy – willing to walk or run 5+ miles per day, play fetch for an hour in a fenced yard or on a long lead
* Training – apply training techniques to remediate challenging behaviors
* Medical management – giving medication or baths, recovery from surgery with limited activity, crate rest and physical therapy

Our role as a rescue is to prepare these dogs to be successful in their forever homes. At minimum, it means learning about them so we can make an informed match with an adopter. Others need refinement before they are ready to live their best lives. Once safely in their foster homes, these dogs decompress, blossom, learn new things…and often the key to their “happy tail” is a dedicated foster.

Beyond the incredible impact that you will make on the life of a Lab, fostering is deeply gratifying and fun! It is a great way to enjoy the company of a Lab and witness the joy they feel in a secure and loving environment. Fostering can be hard, but it is very rewarding to watch a dog you have come to love thrive in their new home.

Take a chance on a special kind of love! On the fence? Take a leap. Lab Rescue will match a foster dog with your situation and provide you with guidance and support to manage the dog’s needs. Apply to foster – the dogs need your help! YOU can make a difference! https://www.lab-rescue.org/volunteer

“Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and consider fostering one of these special dogs. You are likely to learn new things along the way, and your efforts will be rewarded a thousand times over when that dog finds their forever home.”
~ Sandee, devoted Lab Rescue foster mom
