A Karate Dojo is Born: Shin Tenchi Dojo.
Those you who have attended the karate seminars at the original Tenchi Dojo in Georgia with Sensei as famous as Morio Higaonna, Zenpo Shimabukuro, Yoshio Kuba, Seisho Itokazu, Masakazu Kuramoto, probably heard talk of the new dojo that was then in the planning stage.
Well, here is its birth in the midst of 10 acres of beautiful virgin woodlands close by the city of Dalton, GA.
The brainchild of veteran Goju Ryu instructor, Mickey Brock, it is being built in the traditional Japanese manner of wood with a red tilled roof, and doors that can open to efficiently ventilate the dojo on three sides during the warm summer months.
Already famous internationally, this Tenchi Dojo project has already received the support of two Uchina Minkan Taishi (Government appointed Okinawan Civil Ambassadors), Additionally, three previous Tenchi Dojo seminar events organized by this dojo in conjunction with the Karate Do Kenkyukai were sponsored by the Okinawan Prefecture, Dragon Associates Inc., and Meijin Karate Uniforms.
Seminars with internationally famous instructors are already being planned for 2025; we will keep you informed.

Meijin leaned heavily on advice from senior karate masters when developing their uniforms. Shinyu Gushi Sensei suggested that we look at the construction of the shoulder lining as it tended to shrink if not washed in accordance with the factory instructions.This issue was solved by placing the weave of the lining material of the shoulder liner at 90º to the weave of the jacket material. In this way, shrinkage was virtually eliminated by the opposing weave directions of the canvas fabric.

CFA KARATE SEMINARS IN OKINAWA

After our fall karate seminars in Okinawa during October 2016, a small number of our student group traveled back to Tokyo with me to “see the sights and travel to Kamakura in order to pay their respects to the Gichin Funakoshi memorial that stands on the temple grounds. Funakoshi Sensei was a frequent visitor to the temple in his later years, hence the location of his formal memorial stone, which is engraved, “Karate ni Sente Nashi.’ There is no first attack in karate.

Leaving the temple, we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in the local village, then we walked down to see the Great Buddha of Kamakura, which is a bronze statue over forty feet tall that has stood in the same spot since 1252.

Returning to Tokyo that evening, we wined and dined together with our local guests and reflected upon another successful karate training event in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. The following morning, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways home to the US, Mexico, and South Africa.

TRAINING IN OKINAWA WITH CFA

This view will be very familiar to all the members who have trained with us in Okinawa. The image was taken from the causeway that connects Naha proper with what was originally an island.
Our members travel from their apartments every morning in the central city to Tsubogawa Monorail Station, cross the causeway over the river to Onoyama Park, then walk to the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan. Few realize the historical connection with karate this short journey has, and in whose footsteps they tread on their way to training.
As a young man Gichin Funakoshi would take a small boat across to the island and wander through its pine groves to relax and meditate. Many years later he would tell his grandson that the movement of the branches of the many tall pines trees that grew on Onoyama, as they were blown by the strong ocean breezes reminded him of waves which inspired him to take the pen name of, “Shoto” (Pine Waves).
When he opened his first permanent karate dojo in Tokyo, his students called it the Shoto Kan, Shoto's Training Hall
The name stuck.

CFA Okinawa Karate Training Seminars.

Japanese embroidery on your new Meijin uniform for free!!!

Yes, really, and what's more, it’s done beautifully. The bi-lingual staff at Meijin guarantee the Japanese translations are correct, and they almost always ship your order within 72 hours.
We have made no secret of our admiration for Meijin products and the excellent service the company offers. Their embroidery is really beautiful, available in two calligraphy styles and a multitude of colors. Much of the Japanese embroidery we see in the course of our business is poorly crafted, wrongly spelled, or grammatically incorrect. Why would you spend a lot of money on a uniform only to have nonsense embroidered on it?
Meijin have their own hand-digitized fonts; they use the best embroidery threads from Germany and work only with Tajima Japanese commercial embroidery machines. The Tajima Company of Nagoya, Japan, developed the computer-controlled embroidery machine back in the 1960s, and they remain the industry leader.
Yes, we are biased as a result of our many satisfactory experiences and the evidence of our eyes. We have been producing and distributing quality karate equipment since 1968, so we know what we say!

Because we have been around for so long, people often ask us what brand of karate uniforms we use for our pwn training. Before we answer, you always tell them that we have a very close relationship with one manufacturer, have worked with them for years, and that they have often consulted us as far as design and quality are concerned. After giving that frank disclosure out our relationship, we tell them we only use Meijin.

Over the years we have used every type of uniform imaginable including all the top brands. In fact we have been the exclusive national distributor for several of the most famous Japanese manufacturers, and while their products are very good, none of them have the all unique qualities found in Meijin.

We have graduated over 700 students from our certificate program over the years, and many members just keep coming back not just to Okinawa but to our Spring seminars at the Shin Tenchi Dojo in Georgia as well.

Many of you will remember the tiny backstreet Chinese eatery when we often dine at the end of our first day in Okinawa orientation. Kansha En Restaurant has just been nominated as one of the cheapest and best places to eat in Naha, a well-deserved accolade for the husband wife duo who run the place with style and a smile.

News from Naha. We just heard that Morio Higaonna Sensei was seen jogging around Tsuboya recently near his dojo. Remarkable for a man of his age!

Our date for Fall Training are October 4-14th, and as always our members will be taking part in the Hatagashira (Flag Parade and O Tsuna Hiki (Giant Tug of War). And it really is a giant as the tug-of-war rope weighs 43 Tons!

Although the opening of the Shin Tenchi dojo has been delayed by bad weather, construction is now underway and we will publish photos here as this amazing my building takes shape.
