Trevell Lamar Henley was just 15 years old when he disappeared from Columbus, Ohio. He was last seen on July 2, 1999 walking to the home of a 19-year-old friend, Dalin Green, and never returned. His grandmother reported him missing two days later.
When police searched Green’s home, they found bloodstains, spent bullets, shell casings, handguns, clothing, and Trevell’s personal identification. A section of the living room carpet had been cut out, raising suspicions that a violent crime may have taken place.
Trevell had reportedly shown interest in joining a local gang, of which Green was a member. Authorities suspect he may have been harmed during a gang initiation ritual. A few days before his disappearance, Trevell was shot in the hand. At first, he told his grandmother he was attacked by someone unknown, but he later admitted it was an accident that happened at Green’s home. It is unclear if this incident is connected to his disappearance.
No one has ever been charged in Trevell’s case. Police believe he was likely murdered, and Green remains the prime suspect. Trevell’s remains have never been found, and the case remains unsolved.
Tragically, Trevell’s younger brother, Tywan Lamont Saunders, was also killed in 2009 at the age of 22.
