KLZR is Wet Mountain Broadcasting Corp’s new community powered radio station at 91.7 on the FM dial and online at www. KLZR broadcasts from 103 South 2nd Street, in Westcliffe, CO and serves the towns of Westcliffe, Silver Cliff and throughout Custer County, Colorado. KLZR 91.7FM has many volunteers from throughout the Wet Mountain Valley and beyond who participate in a variety of activities to su

pport the station from IT, to hosting events to doing live, on-air radio shows. Listener’s get to hear DJ's play the varied tastes and styles of music that they have grown to love over the years. This music ranges from folk and singer/songwriter to rock, blues, jazz, Cajun, classical, reggae and all genres in between. KLZR also broadcasts nationally syndicated shows such as Hearts of Space, Putamayo World Music, CO Sound, Undercurrents, FM Odyssey, Woodsongs, Thomas Jefferson Hours and Featured Story News ever hour on the hour. Local programming includes our Community Calendar featuring local upcoming activities and events, Words On The Wind with local authors and poets reading pieces of their work and there is lots more. EVACUATION BEING LIFTED TUESDAY FOR MIDDLE CREEK CANYON RD

Sheriff David J. Lucero announced today that the mandatory evacuation imposed on the Middle Creek Canyon Road residents on Monday, June 24 as a result of the Oak Ridge Fire is being lifted, effective Noon on Tuesday, July 2.

Those residents will now be on pre-evacuation status. Those areas placed on pre-evacuation status on 6/24 will remain on that status at this time. This includes Vine Mesa, Cascade Avenue, Pine Avenue and Beulah Highlands Rd.

The Sheriff is lifting the evacuation status due to the current fire conditions and the progress made on the fire.

Oak Ridge & Lead Mountain Fires Saturday 6/29 7:40pm

According to the US Forrest Service, the Lead Mountain fire was contained and controlled as of 12:30pm on Saturday June 29th.

As of 7:30pm, on Saturday June 29th, The Oak Ridge Fire, located 3 miles Northwest of Beulah in both Pueblo and Custer Counties, was at 1,190 acres, and 0% contained.

Middle Creek Canon Road is on MANDATORY EVACUATION. A PRE-EVACUATION notice in effect for Vine Mesa, Cascade Ave, Pine Ave and Beulah Highlands Road. Detailed evacuation information is available on the Pueblo Emergency Status Board, under “Law Enforcement”, at pueblosheriff.org

Oak Ridge & Lead Mountain Fires Saturday 6/29 3:30am

As of Friday night, June 28th, the Lead Mountain Fire, 15 mi E/NE of Westcliffe, CO in Hardscrabble Canyon north of Highway 96, was burning approximately 20 feet X 20 feet on a ridgetop in steep rugged and rocky terrain.

According to Pike & San Isabel National Forests Cimarron & Comanche National Grasslands Fire Information, there were 2 engine crews are working on scouting and gaining access to the fire. They were utilizing a helicopter with bucket drops to slow the fires spread. Due to the remote location, crews were not expected to make it to the fire Friday night, but will continue working on gaining access Saturday morning.

Also as of Friday June 28th, The Oak Ridge Fire, located 3 miles Northwest of Beulah in both Pueblo and Custer Counties, had grown to 1,147 acres, and was 0% contained.

According to Inciweb, the fire has an estimated containment date of July 24th, 2024.

There is a forest closure order in effect for the area, which will be in effect through July 26th, unless rescinded. You can find a map of the forest closure area on the Forest Service website.

There is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the fire area. Do not fly or operate your own drones in this area, as it will impede firefighting efforts and ground firefighting aircraft.

Custer County Roads 386 and 387 are closed.

Middle Creek Canon Road is on MANDATORY EVACUATION.

As of the afternoon of Wednesday June 26th the Oak Ridge Fire, located 3 miles Northwest of Beulah in both Pueblo and Custer Counties, had grown to 1,008 acres, and was 0% contained.

According to Inciweb, the fire has an estimated containment date of July 24th, 2024.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke today, for western Pueblo and eastern Custer Counties.
