W. Va. Class A football honors were announced Tuesday!
Doddridge County's Landon Thomas was named to the first team offense as a wide receiver and Brycen Eidel was selected for the first team defense at linebacker.

Other Bulldogs honored included second team offensive captain Brysen Dixon at quarterback and second team defensive picks Jerod Trent at utility and Samuel James at defensive line.
Honorable mention honors go to the Bulldogs trio of Brandon Davis, Krystian Eidel and Talyn Snyder.

Five Doddridge County Bulldogs named to the Little Kanawha Conference Class A football first team by the conference coaches.
On offense, junior Landon Thomas was selected as a wide receiver and junior Jerod Trent as an offensive utility player, while the defense has junior Brycen Eidel at linebacker, junior Samuel James at lineman and senior Talyn Snyder at defensive utility.

Doddridge County's girls basketball team opened the regular season Tuesday with a 64-18 victory over Calhoun County.
Payton Trent led the scoring for the Bulldogs with 16 points, while Aleigh Cheeseman scored 12 points. All 10 varsity players for DCHS scored in the contest.
Freshman Josie Richards scored a team-high five points for the Red Devils.

Doddridge County's football season came to a close Friday night at Dragon Stadium as No. 4 Cameron defeated the No. 5 Bulldogs, 28-13, in the Class A quarterfinals.
Four turnovers and nine penalties for 114 yards in the contest were too much for Doddridge County to overcome.
The Dragons jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter.
DCHS had a chance to tightened the score at the beginning of the third quarter, driving to the Cameron 36 before an interception ended the threat.
The Dragons converted the turnover into a third TD to take control of the contest and later added a fourth touchdown on a drive that began with another interception to go up, 28-7.
Cameron (11-1) awaits the winner of Saturday's Petersburg-Tug Valley contest in the semifinals.
Doddridge County concludes the season at 9-3.

It won't be officially announced until all Sunday high school games are final, but No. 5 Doddridge County will travel to No. 4 Cameron Friday for a 7 p.m. contest at Dragon Stadium in the Class A quarterfinals.

No. 12 Wirt County turns the football over six times Saturday afternoon and No. 5 Doddridge County pulls away for a 28-8 victory in the opening round of the Class A playoffs at Cline Stansberry Stadium.
Leland Goodwin had a career game for the Bulldogs defensively, picking off three passes and recovering a kickoff that the Tigers failed to field properly.
Landon Thomas opened the scoring for DCHS with a 13-yard touchdown reception with 20 seconds remaining in the first half.
Brycen Eidel, Brandon Davis and Lyric Blake each added a short TD run apiece and Davis went 4-for-4 on PAT kicks to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
Wirt County got on the scoreboard with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Brody Ewing in the fourth quarter. Kolton Toler ran for the two-point conversion.
Ewing finished with 141 yards rushing on 29 carries.
Dixon threw for 103 yards, connecting with Thomas five times for 72 yards.
Doddridge County (9-2) advances to play No. 4 Cameron (10-1) in the quarterfinal round at Dragon Stadium.

Just in....

The WVSSAC announced today that the high school football playoffs will proceed this week. The announcement comes after the Supreme Court of Appeals in West Virginia vacated injunctions issued by two circuit courts, reaffirming the WVSSAC's authority to oversee and implement its rules for interscholastic athletics.
The point system that was used for the entirety of the regular season (prior to the injunctions) will be used to determine the playoff fields and matchups. Those fields and matchups will be announced shortly.
