TV6 ran a nice story on our upcoming renovation project slated for our Aspen Ridge Building. This renovation project is made possible by our Sinking Fund. We are so fortunate to have that fund which allows us to give our students great facilities in which to grow and learn.
Also from our School Board Meeting on Monday night, we swore in new board members Derrick Magnuson and Jim Gray (Jim was also selected as our Treasurer). Additionally, Crystal LaFreniere was selected as our President, Scott Earl Mann was selected as our Vice President, and Chad Korpi was selected as our Secretary. Kathleen Carlson and John Grove continued their duties as Trustees. We'd like to thank our Board Members for their selfless service.

Congratulations to our students from Westwood's Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter who competed at Bay College in Escanaba on Friday, January 17, 2025. WHS students earned a total of 54 top six awards, including eleven first place awards!

This Regional competition was a qualifier for State competition in March, at which time 27 WHS students will travel to Grand Rapids to compete.

We’d like to congratulate and introduce Coach Lilianna Briggs as our new Varsity Volleyball Head Coach! Coach Briggs is a 2016 Graduate of WHS, and has been involved with our volleyball program for several years, most recently as our Freshman and then JV Coach.

Due to the extreme cold warning in effect tomorrow, all practices are cancelled.

The Girls Basketball Home Game vs. Gwinn has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 15th at 1:00. This will be Varsity only.

The Girls JV Game vs. Munising is also cancelled, and we are working on a reschedule.

We had 3 wrestlers on the podium:
138 Cassius Lindquist SO 4th
150 Gavin Comero JR 4th
165 Leo Dockery SR 5th

In addition to our medalists, we had 3 UP All Academic Athletes; Gavin Comero, Manny Edelson and Hunter Vedder.

Our pole vaulter, sophomore Lexi Olson, has done it again, not once but twice at the MPC Track & Field Championships held in Negaunee on Monday. Lexi broke her own record of 10’6” with a 10’7” vault, then she set a new record with a 10’10” vault. Way to go Lexi! #patriotpride

Westwood High School Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS gymnasium. Aspen Ridge 8th Grade Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the ARS gymnasium. Class of 2021 Westwood High School Graduation

The WHS Class of 2021 graduation ceremony will be live-streamed on the NICE Community School District page tonight at 6:00 p.m. Congratulations to our Patriot graduates!

Today our Class of 2021 Seniors started their day with a class breakfast at Westwood followed by a parade at Aspen Ridge. Best of luck to our Seniors! Go Patriots!
