I am the 'Bad Boy' of the company meaning I am the most fun, bubbly, and energetic DJ you will probably ever meet! 😉 In reality, as much as I love to bring the party, I care about my couples' big day as if it were my own. I try to look in between the lines for things that others may not think of. For example, if my couple is about to walk down the aisle, I will offer them breath mints so they can have a minty fresh first kiss. I want my couples to sit back, relax, and enjoy their day as a true bride and groom, not having to play the role of a host."

Connor and Ashley Holland were married on September 15th of 2017 and had their reception at the Sanctuary Event Center in Fargo. It was such a fun event as you can see by the pictures taken by Joelson Photography. We've been using many of these photos in our marketing since that time as they were so good. Today, they have two children and are teaching them to love UND Hockey :)

What an absolutely fantastic wedding reception. I (Dave) was the emcee, coordinator, and DJ for Gunnar and Mattie's reception last night and oh boy did we celebrate. The wedding party was a blast, family was so nice, and the guests packed that dance floor all night. Shout out to my assistant DJ Jeremiah who threw down some crazy mixes as well.

Michael and Rachel were married on August 20th, 2022 at lake Elsie Wedding Barn down in Hankinson. We had the ceremony on the lake and it was gorgeous.
In October they welcomed the newest addition to their family, little Maverick. He's already sporting Harmon Entertainment gear 😁.

When one of your own ties the knot it just hits different. On Friday DJ Anthony and his wife Anna started a new journey called marriage and they trusted me (Dave) to be their Emcee. We laughed, we cried, and created memories to last a lifetime. One of my favorite parts of the night was when Anthony took over the mixer and quick mixed for 20 minutes. IT WAS EPIC!!!
Congrats to you both! As it was mentioned so many times throughout the evening, you are meant for each other.

Jack and Maiya had their wedding reception at Sixteen 03 Main Events in Bismarck on June 1st, 2019 and I (Dave) was their DJ and Emcee. Jack is from England so we were bringing two worlds together for this reception. First dance song was Eyes on You by Chase Rice and the last song was a Glee Cast version of Don't Stop Beleivin.
Today, they have two boys and they are living life to the fullest! So glad to have them in my life! Here is the review they left me after the event...

To get to the beginning of Harmon Entertainment, we have to take you all the way back to 1996. Dave Harmon (aka “the founder”) was attending NDSU and he needed an easy class for a credit. After looking at all the classes offered he decided on registering for a social dance class. It didn’t take long for him to realize he was a pretty good dancer, especially when it came to swing dancing. Shortly after finishing that class, the swing dance craze started growing in Fargo. Dave would go out dancing whenever the opportunity presented itself and when others started noticing his talent, they wanted to learn from him. That eventually led to him starting his own dance class in 1999 and Harmon Danceworks was born. Since then Dave has taught thousands of couples how to dance through his social dance classes.
In 2005, Dave met his wife Allison while swing dancing at the Avalon downtown. They like to say, “it was love at first swivel!” In 2008 they were married and planned an amazing reception at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND. At their reception they did a fun grand march, two choreographed first dance’s, and games throughout the night that kept their guests engaged. At the end of the night their guests kept telling them, “this is the most fun we’ve ever had at a wedding reception, you should do this for a living!” Dave thought about it, and realized that one of his favorite things to do in life was attend and dance at wedding receptions. He pondered if it was possible to make a living doing one of his favorite things in life? A month later Harmon Danceworks and DJ was formed.
In 2009 Dave started DJing wedding receptions and for many years he was “just a DJ”. He brought in another DJ, and they got better as they got more experience, but it wasn’t until the spring of 2014 when he attended a DJ conference in Las Vegas that everything changed. His eyes were opened to everything he didn’t know about being a wedding entertainer. Changes were made to the business model and now they were no longer “just DJ’s,” they were now “Wedding Entertainers”. The results were almost immediate as the referrals started coming in wanting the “Harmon Experience” they had heard so much about. Shortly thereafter, “Harmon Danceworks and DJ” was rebranded to a more accurate description of what they do, “Harmon Entertainment.”
In the fall of 2014, Dave brought on Troy Collins as a wedding entertainer. Troy was fun, organized, responsible, and had amazing customer service skills. His clients loved him and shortly thereafter he was moved from part time entertainer, to a full time employee, as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
In December of 2017, another part time entertainer, Marcus Goossens, was promoted to full time as “Entertainment Director” for the company. He trains all the wedding entertainers and holds them accountable to put on a “Harmon Entertainment” wedding. With his “I will figure it out” attitude he is self-taught in Photoshop and video editing which has been an amazing asset for the photobooth and monogram divisions of Harmon Entertainment. Troy and Marcus are a huge reason of why Harmon Entertainment has been so successful and has grown from 100 weddings in 2015 to over 300 in 2018.
The company has not only seen growth in their number of events they do every year, it has also grown in the number of employees it has. With over 14 part-time entertainers, there are also three full-time entertainers. Brandon Forde, Tom Brenner, and Joe Johnson are all full time entertainers for the company doing 40-60 events per year. The employees are at the core of our business and Harmon Entertainment wouldn’t be anything without them!
Today, Harmon Entertainment is the highest ranked and most reviewed DJ company in the state of North Dakota on Wedding Wire and The Knot websites. They offer DJ, MC, lighting, photobooths, décor, and dance lessons. Besides weddings, they also offer corporate event entertainment and DJ school dances. If it’s a party, they know how to throw it!
Back in 2008 after Dave got married, his dream was to support his family by doing what he loved. Today he is living that dream with the help of some amazing people along the way. That is the story of Harmon Entertainment….so far. Can’t wait to see what the future holds!
