I never miss his insightful columns in the Inquirer and try to catch his fun Saturday morning show on WIP radio when I can. Mike also wrote that fab bestselling book (“The Rise”) about Kobe Bryant’s formative days in Lower Merion.

TOOK A DEEP DIVE (without getting wet!) at my new gym yesterday.

Always on the cutting edge of wellness & recovery, AFC Fitness Radnor has an on-site hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Intrigued, I decided to give it a test ride. (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy - HBOT - is typically offered only in hospital/healthcare settings.)

In a nutshell, you feel like:
👉🏼an astronaut when you enter the capsule
👉🏼a scuba diver when you “dive” 40 levels below sea level and start breathing 100% oxygen (instead of the 21% in normal air) and
👉🏼a million bucks when it’s over!

According to the super-attentive certified tech Colleen, folks are using the chamber at AFC Radnor to speed healing of a long list of ailments:
*joint & back pain and inflammation
*plastic surgery & slow-to-heal wounds
*Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s (some use it to prevent dementia)
*Concussions and brain fog
*Sports injuries and recovery
*Overall wellness & longevity (a la Michael Jackson).

Collleen explained that oxygen molecules - a key component of cellular healing - shrink under HBOT pressure, allowing them to squeeze thru constricted blood vessels and inflamed tissue, cross the blood-brain barrier, lymph nodes, spinal fluid etc. reaching every tissue in the body to speed repair.

What did my dive do for me?

I emerged feeling unusually clear-headed, well-rested and energized. Like I could take on the world and ace an IQ test.
