The Grand Galloping Gala, the Final Grand Galloping Gala, at BronyCon tonight was amazing.
In my mind, completely topping what they did last year with a spectacular multimedia/multi-genre performance, ranging from musicals to video games to anime, they even included The Princess Bride!
The Gala managed to break me when it got to the anime portion of the program and it referenced, of all things, Sailor Moon.
When all seemed lost, to get the Gala back on its feet again, Princess Twilight, performed by sophomore Gala director Lady Ava Cosplay, needed some confidence boosting of her own to regenerate the Elements of Harmony and get her friends back, and with the help of the happy gala memories from the audience, including mine, this was achieved successfully, accompanied by a Dear Evan Hansen musical number.
And to top it all off, Twilight was crowned official QUEEN, yes you read that right, the Queen of Equestria. It seemed like the perfect end to an incredible series of events that will go down in history as the best nights ever.
Word can not express the amount of gratitude that I have for the Gala’s cast and crew. ICYDNK, I met up with them on Wednesday after badge pickup, and they surprised me by “inducting” me as an Honorary Gala cast member for the amazing videos that I’ve done for them over the past few years. These videos serve as visual memories that can be watched over and over again and will be talked about over and over again. I have been glad to film the GGG in it’s entirety since 2015. I’m glad to have been part of this ride. Only heaven knows what’s in store for us down the road.
I’m an emotional wreck as I write this. But I’m glad that this gala ended the way it did, which could be reflective of how the series will end.
I want to thank Lady Ava, Escanova Cosplay, Shield Horse Cosplay, Sarahndipity Cosplay Shelbeanie Cosplay, Maddymoiselle, Mieu, KBV Photography & Cosplay, A Peek at Pyro, Wiggles, Active Eyebrows Cosplay, and a slew of so many other people that have been involved with this event and for including me as a member. It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with you guys.
