Scattered storms will bring a strong to severe threat (level 2 out of 5 risk) to the local area for the 4th of July holiday, focused on the afternoon into the early evening hours. Large hail will be the main concern. With a lot of outdoor plans, be sure to keep close tabs on updated forecasts - and the radar. Have a plan to shelter indoors should storms near your location, and multiple ways to receive warnings if issued. Keep it safe for the 4th.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for areas mainly north of I-90 until 4 AM.
06/25/2024
Confidence has increased (80-90%) that thunderstorms will develop this evening and impact the area into the overnight hours. Storms that develop may quickly become severe with damaging winds and hail. In some cases the wind gusts alone could cause significant damage.
The speed of the storms will help limit rainfall amounts, but localized higher amounts (2" or more) could occur. Confidence in exactly where and when storms develop remains lower, so be sure to monitor forecast updates through the day today.
Be WEATHER AWARE tonight! Have multiple ways to receive warnings, including something that will wake you up if needed.

LA Communications Live Radar
A prolonged period of light snow will impact the region through Thursday, with some accumulations, especially on colder, grassy surfaces. A few inches are possible across parts of Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin, with generally an inch or two expected elsewhere. Be ready for slippery travel where snow sticks to the road. The cold isn't going anywhere either with lows in the single digits for many by the weekend.
Live Radar & Wind Gusts
There will be a risk for severe storms along a fast-moving cold front Thursday afternoon. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are the main threats. In addition to the severe threat, winds will gust into the 30 to 45 mph range. These winds will be out of the south ahead of the cold front and from the west behind this cold front. Much colder air will move into the region on Thursday night. Wind chills will range from 5 to 15 above late Thursday night and Friday morning.
A line of snow has developed in northeast Iowa. A minor coating of snow (less than 1/4") will be possible in spots.
