We are a unique space with an amazing sound that cannot be found anywhere else. Let’s make your music heard! Travis Geiman is a recording engineer located in Waterville, Ohio. He has a reputation of achieving the most unique sounds and visualizing the final mix before a mic has been set up. Using different techniques and approaches he finds the best sound to match the artist as well as their genre
of music. Microphone technique, gear selection and working with the room to achieve sounds are an important part of his engineering. He never relies on fixing anything “in the box”, unless to achieve a desired effect. He has played in rock bands, symphonies and everything in between for over 15 years. Because of his background in music he knows how to communicate with other musicians to achieve the best performances during the recording process. Travis had his start in a very “do it yourself” way. After playing guitar for a couple months he was asked to join his first band. This band ended up signing to a local indie record label, and it was here that he received his first introduction to recording. Although this band lasted less than 2 years, it was because of this that he went to Radio Shack and bought his first microphone. He plugged it straight into the back of his parents computer and started recording his guitar through his 15 watt crate amp. Finding out quickly that by moving the mic incrementally in front of the speaker cone different sounds could be achieved. It was here that his fascination with recording began. After a year of learning and recording just himself he had the opportunity to record a local band. It was figuring out how to record this band that his unique style of engineering began, particularly because of his limitation to only record four channels at a time. In 2013 Travis graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BA in Music with a focus in recording technology. Shortly after, in 2014, he started Bigfoot Studios in Maumee and has since worked with many different local, national and international artists. Some of which include Nikki D and the Browns, who recently toured Australia, with Australian guitarist Dom Turner as part of the Turner Brown Band, Oliver Hazard who are signed to the LA record label Mixed Management. In 2017, he began working with Waterville’s Third Street Cigar Records and has recorded a Bobby G, The Good, The Bad and The Blues and a Johnny Rawls album. Both were featured in Living Blues Magazine and charted on the Living Blues charts. In May of 2019 Johnny Rawls album “I’m Still Around” won the Blues Music Award for Best Soul Blues Album of the Year. He works locally with multiple different businesses and nonprofits providing audio services. Multiple albums/singles that have been recorded with Travis at Bigfoot have been featured in many magazines and articles.
