Hello all. Remember that crazy geomagnetic storm Back in April where the Aurora was seen as far south as Utah and even Northern Arizona? What if I told you I filmed that. It was my last outing of the season, but it certainly did not disappoint.....anyways,

9 1/2 minutes of 360 Aurora Borealis timelapse footage shot at 21K resolution, 16 bit color. Yes. the processing was a doozy on this (it just now is completed).

Enjoy.

Good morning all,

There is just something special about watching the Northern Lights in real time. I am proud to present to you a clip I filmed in Real time during a Geomagnetic Storm up at Castner Creek near Delta Junction, Alaska.

Located just north of the 64th parallel, this is one of those places in the world that are situated perfectly for epic aurora displays even during just "unsettled geomagnetic conditions. During this particular night, the earth was experiencing the effects of a Coronal Hole High Speed Stream (CHHSS) geomagnetic storm at a little over KP=5, and a Bz value of between -5 to -10 nt.

At 9 1/2 minutes long, this is a good video to kick back on a couch with your VR goggles, and take time out of your day to watch nature's fireworks show.

So, some Technical Details:

This was filmed at roughly 9K (this is a true resolution---no AI upscaling here) using a custom multi-mirrorless camera rig and fisheye lenses. I did convert the footage to 60 FPS as these Aurora real time clips often ends up a little choppy due to the long shutter speeds that need to be used to catch the in real time (it results in alot of repeat frames)--I'd say the results came out pretty good.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video, and don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel and turn on notifications to see more of these as I release them.

Enjoy!

If you have VR glasses, this is a good one for that.

Enjoy, and feel free to share!

Approximately 20 miles off the road system in South Central Alaska is Knik Glacier, a large Icefield in the Chugiak mountains known for its calved Iceburgs, moraine lakes, extensive network of crevasses, and Beautiful scenery. Usually the only way to get there is via Helicopter, Bush plane, snow machine, or my favorite- a several hours long offroading adventure on UTVs through mud, muck, mountains, and stream crossings.

This morning I take you there to check out this ice giant in 360 VR. I highly recommend the use of a headset, however, for those of you who get motion sick (these are aerial drone 360 shots), you can still check it out by dragging your phone screen around.

Anyways, here it is, and enjoy: https://youtube.com/watch?v=hT6qClMB-Kg&feature=shares

This week I have a quick mash-up of some 360 aerial footage of Alaska's Knik Glacier for your viewing pleasure. Knik Glacier is a remote icefield in south ce...
