The Observer-Reporter has been reporting on Washington and Greene counties since the early 1800's. In 1986, the O-R bought the Monongahela Daily Herald, officially entering the Mon Valley region, and folding that publication into the Observer-Reporter's coverage area. Recently, the O-R has expanded its coverage area in the Mon Valley past the Washington County line, into areas like Brownsville, Monessen, Rostraver, Belle Vernon, and points in between.
