Sidney Crosby set up Rickard Rakell’s tying goal with 13.7 seconds left in regulation, then scored at 2:22 of overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 5-4 comeback victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.

The Penguins overcame a three-goal deficit to win their fifth straight game overall and third in a row on the road. They defeated Detroit 4-1 on Saturday.

Crosby extended his point streak to eight games. He has five goals and seven assists during that stretch.

Jestin Porter scored 13 of his 21 points in the second half and Clemson beat Pittsburgh 73-68 for its fifth straight win on Saturday and 14th consecutive victory over the Panthers.

The Tigers (12-3, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) lead the series 14-3 and haven’t lost to Pitt (7-8, 0-2) since 2014.

Porter was 8-of-12 shooting with three 3-pointers for the Tigers. Nick Davidson and RJ Godfrey scored 14 points each and Butta Johnson had 10 including a trio of 3s. Carter Welling had 10 rebounds to go with eight points before fouling out. The Tigers shot 53%

Kris Letang scored 58 seconds into overtime in his 1,200th NHL game and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on Thursday night.

Sidney Crosby had two goals an and assist to extend his point streak to five games, and Blake Lizotte also scored for the Penguins in their third straight win. Pittsburgh has four wins in its last five games following an eight-game losing streak.

Erik Karlsson had two assists to become the second active and 14th defenseman in NHL history to reach 900 points. Arturs Silovs stopped 24 shots for Pittsburgh.

Penn State running back Quinton Martin Jr. is in the same boat as many other Nittany Lions.

He isn’t quite sure what’s next, and his future could look a lot different as early as later this week when the transfer portal opens on Friday.

After 2024, when he played in six games as a true freshman, Martin did not see his first carry of the season until Saturday’s Pinstripe Bowl.

The Washington & Jefferson women’s basketball team returned from its holiday break but the Presidents’ shooting touch did not.

W&J shot only 33 percent and lost 52-43 to Otterbein on Monday afternoon.

The Presidents (7-3) trailed 27-24 at halftime but took a 33-32 lead into the final period after outscoring the Cardinals 9-5 in the third quarter. Otterbein (8-3) outscored W&J 20-10 in the pivotal fourth quarter.

Both teams struggled at times with the frigid conditions at Yankee Stadium following a snowstorm. The temperature at kickoff was 28 degrees and the wind chill made it feel like 19 while the snow from Friday’s storm was piled in the right and left field corners.

Chaston Ditta threw two second-half touchdown passes, and East Carolina overcame an inadvertent whistle that negated a long touchdown in a 23-17 victory over Pittsburgh in the Military Bowl on Saturday.
