Tech CEO Vivek Taneja from Alexandria died on February 7 days after he was attacked outside DC restaurant, Akedo. An unknown man punched Taneja who struck his head on the concrete and lost consciousness. The founder of Casa Ruby, a once-thriving nonprofit supporting the LGBTQ+ community in D.C., faced charges in court on Tuesday. Officials say Ruby Corado misused taxpayer-funded relief funds, diverting $150,000 to personal offshore accounts. For 10 years, Casa Ruby offered transitional housing and support to LGBTQ+ youth through public donations and government grants. DC police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with the murder of a Lyft driver last year. The teen, described as a “primary suspect,” was among multiple suspects and police did not say whether he was the one who fired the gun. Nasratullah Ahmad Yar, a former U.S. military interpreter, was shot while sitting in his black Toyota Highlander in a Capitol Hill neighborhood, possibly during an attempted carjacking by the teens.
Police in Montgomery County are asking for help identifying the man seen in this video. They say he robbed a Chipotle on Old Georgetown Road back on February 4. According to investigators, the man placed an order then demanded employees to open the register. Anyone with information is asked to contact Montgomery County Crime Stoppers.
