Tunisian Ambassador Hanène Tajouri Bessassi was named the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Ambassador of the Year at a ceremony on Dec. 18.

NUSACC LEADS A DELEGATION OF ARAB AMBASSADORS TO THE WORLD FOOD PRIZE CEREMONY IN IOWA

The National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce ( ) – America’s top commercial gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – recently led a delegation of Arab Ambassadors to the World Food Prize in , . The visit provided an opportunity to promote commercial and political relations with the State of Iowa, which is #2 in production in the United States (based on cash receipts), selling about $40 billion annually in products.

This year’s World Food Prize Foundation (WFP) placed a special emphasis on the continent of . In this spirit, the NUSACC delegation was led by North African , including Her Excellency Cissé Boide ( 🇲🇷) and Her Excellency Hanène Tajouri Bessassi ( 🇹🇳). The ambassadors were part of the V.V.I.P. processional at the World Food Prize Laureates Ceremony, which included Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of 🇹🇿, and His Excellency Julius Maada Wonie Bio, President of 🇸🇱.

NATIONAL U.S. – ARAB CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (NUSACC) RECOGNIZES TUNISIA’S Hanène TAJOURI BESSASSI AS 2024 “AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR”

Washington, DC: The National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce ( ) – America’s top commercial gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – this week honored H.E. Hanène Tajouri Bessassi of Tunisia as the 2024 Ambassador of the Year. The award, now in its 21st year, is given annually to a member of the Arab diplomatic corps in the USA for his or her outstanding contributions to U.S. - Arab relations.

“Ambassador Tajouri Bessassi has helped to bring a measure of stability and predictability to the Tunisia – U.S. partnership at a time of great change across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,” noted David Hamod, President & CEO of NUSACC. “Her indefatigable efforts have helped to keep the Tunisia – U.S. relationship on an even keel.”

Tajouri Bessassi stated, “I am deeply honored to be named the 2024 Ambassador of the Year by NUSACC. This accolade reflects the longstanding partnership between our two nations and peoples. Together, we will continue to strengthen the bonds between our nations and work toward a brighter and more prosperous future for all.”

Tajouri Bessassi is not the first Tunisian to be selected as Ambassador of the Year, and she is not the first female to be named Ambassador of the Year. But she is the first Tunisian female to receive this coveted award because she has blazed a trail as her country’s first woman ambassador to the United States.
