Tomorrow night, Shani Wilson, Chair of the Rochester Police Accountability Board, is our guest on Chalkboard Conversations Podcast to discuss the senseless death of Daniel Prude at the hand of the police.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The world saw video of the death of Daniel Prude, the 41-year-old Black man suffering a crisis who died on a cold Rochester street last March, naked and handcuffed with a spit hood on his head while police put physical pressure on his head and body.

The medical examiner ruled it a homicide, caused in part by asphyxiation, the controversial diagnosis of "excited delirium," and P*P use.

But when assessing the evidence, Monroe County grand jurors reached a conclusion that's common in cases where police use force: They declined to bring an indictment.

Over and over again, New York prosecutors or grand juries have assessed civilian deaths at the hands of police and determined the evidence isn't strong enough to sustain a criminal case against the officers involved. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/nation/2021/02/27/daniel-prude-died-ruled-homicide-so-why-isnt-crime/6831579002/

Many police accountability board members believe the decision in the Prude case shows why the board should be able to discipline officers.

State Senator Elgie Sims joins us tomorrow night on Chalkboard Conversations VODcast to discuss historic police reform legislation he and the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus sponsored.

Take a look at the article below that has what the law addresses in a very easy to read format. It includes accountability, military style weapons, use of force, bail, suspension of drivers license and much more.

Legislators in states across the country are looking at this legislation as a model to address this.

Tune in tomorrow night at 7pm, FB Live to hear from Senator Sims and join the conversation.

A bill that brings sweeping criminal justice and police reforms, including the end of cash bail in Illinois, is about to be signed into law by Gov. J.B. Pritzker Monday.

Like and tell us what you think.

We love seeing these women sent a message and put the party b4 politics with powerful fashion statements, “we are leading on our terms and here to stay.”

On Inauguration Day, the women of the White House chose to elevate American fashion designers of color and underrepresented voices.
