-APA began its long publishing history with the Proceedings of the American Psychology Association in 1892.

-APA demonstrated its dedication to the dissemination of knowledge in the 1920s with the purchase and launch of two journals, both of which are still leading journals today.

-The 1950s-1970s saw major expansion and specialization in the behavioral and social sciences worldwide; APA began p

ublishing many influential titles, including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

-In 1990, APA created the Educational Publishing Foundation (EPF), a specialty imprint of the American Psychological Association Journals Program to provide innovative publishing services to psychology and the larger behavioral and social sciences community and to support the development of specialized or interdisciplinary journals. The imprint has unique resources and adaptability to support our society publishing partners and developing specialized or interdisciplinary journals.

-In 2001, the launch of PsycARTICLES®, APA’s full-text database, changed the way researchers access and interact with scholarly knowledge.

-Today, APA continues to grow and develop its influential publishing program, which now includes more than 75 top-quality journals in the behavioral and social sciences.

How organizations handle employee mental health conditions is critical for well-being and inclusion. A narrative study recently published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology challenges the idea that disclosure is always a deliberate decision. Instead, it often unfolds through disclosure opportunities—moments shaped by workplace elements such as time and space, bureaucratic structure, social structure, and mental health programs.

The authors propose an ecological model that offers a more nuanced understanding of disclosure and practical insights for occupational health psychology. Read the full article: https://bit.ly/4r2nvsY

Despite having learned much about psychotherapy over more than seven decades of systematic research, the field remains relatively immature in its lack of core and consensual findings. Thus, “big needle movements” are required to help meet the immense need for effective mental health care. Nine compelling articles brought together in a recent special section of Psychotherapy cover diverse topics and provide varied templates for understanding, through scientific inquiry, the inherently complex psychotherapy endeavor. How does psychological well-being influence the relationship between posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and disordered eating behaviors in U.S. Veterans? Findings from a study in Psychological Services indicate that Veterans with PTSD are more likely to experience eating disturbances, particularly related to body dissatisfaction. Importantly, higher levels of psychological well-being appear to mitigate these effects. These insights suggest that interventions aimed at enhancing psychological well-being could be beneficial in addressing eating disturbances among Veterans, highlighting the need for integrated mental health approaches that consider both trauma and eating behaviors. Despite media portrayals to the contrary, immigrants to the United States tend to commit less crime than U.S.-born citizens. However, the factors underlying this at the individual level are not fully understood. To examine this, Eno Louden and colleagues conducted two complementary studies among individuals in the U.S.–México border region who were recently booked into jail. The authors conclude that policies limiting immigration (particularly from México) based on the idea that immigrants are prone to crime are misguided given their finding that jailed immigrants have low levels of criminal risk factors.
