We hope you are all well and looking forward to seeing many of you this evening at our talk with David Rennie from the Economist.

We also wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of our end of the semester holiday event on Friday, December 2nd at the Bulldog Tavern.

For anyone who is interested in becoming a member or joining the Europe Forum committee for the 2017-18 season, we will be holding our annual general meeting at 4:00pm at the Bulldog.

After Kristalina Georgieva decided to quit her job as EU Commissioner and join the World Bank, Günther Öttinger is supposed to take over her portfolio. But as of now it is still unsure whether he will actually be promoted:

The SFS Europe Forum is pleased to welcome David Rennie, chief Washington correspondent for The Economist and author of its "Lexington" column, for an informal discussion on "The Politics of Loss and the Rise of Populism". Mr. Rennie previously authored the magazine's "Charlemagne" and "Bagehot" columns, and brings considerable experience commenting on political affairs from London, Brussels, and Washington.

The event will be at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 17th in the Mortara Center (3600 N St. NW). It will be followed by a short wine reception. For tickets, please register below. Please bring you ID as priority will be given to Georgetown students.
