BREAKING: Rivers Assembly Commences Impeachment Proceedings Against Gov. Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, further escalating political tension in the state.

The move was initiated on Wednesday during a plenary session, where lawmakers cited alleged constitutional and administrative infractions as grounds for the action.

The plenary, it was gathered, resumed earlier than the initially scheduled date of January 26, signalling heightened legislative activity amid the ongoing political crisis.

The development comes against the backdrop of a deepening power struggle between former Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara, which has continued to generate uncertainty and anxiety across the oil-rich Niger Delta state.
