Yesterday, students, community members, and alumni of George Mason University came together to form a human chain, demanding justice for the deceased protesters in Bangladesh and the release of all students and teachers detained in ongoing protests. The demonstration was held in response to the tragic events in Bangladesh, where peaceful protesters, primarily students, have faced violence and arrests.
The participants of the human chain expressed their solidarity with the victims and condemned the actions of the Bangladeshi government. They called for the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet, holding them accountable for the deaths of students and the failure to uphold fundamental human rights. The protest highlighted the urgent need for justice and respect for democratic values.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of global awareness and solidarity in the face of such injustices. They urged the international community to pay attention to the situation in Bangladesh and support the call for justice and freedom for all detained individuals. This demonstration at George Mason University reflects a broader concern among students and activists worldwide, who are increasingly vocal about human rights abuses and governmental accountability. The event organizers vowed to continue their advocacy and raise awareness until justice is served.

A peaceful protest held in front of the White House on 20th July, 2024 saw a turnout of over 100 individuals, all united in their demand for justice and an end to human rights violations in Bangladesh. Organized by Bangladeshi international students and professionals, the protest aimed to draw international attention to the ongoing crisis in their home country, where government actions have led to severe violence against student protestors. The protestors gathered with placards and flags, voicing their demands for an immediate cessation of the killings and the restoration of internet and mobile network access in Bangladesh. The protest was marked by its non-political nature, with organizers emphasizing that the sole purpose was to stand in solidarity with the students in Bangladesh and to call for justice.
The demonstrators collectively condemned the violent crackdown on peaceful protestors in Bangladesh, which has resulted in at least 150 deaths and thousands of injuries. The protestors called on the Bangladeshi government to take immediate and necessary actions to end these atrocities and human rights violations. They specifically demanded that the officials responsible for the violence be dismissed and held accountable.
The protest concluded with a unified call for international pressure on the Bangladeshi government to address these urgent issues. Participants expressed hope that their collective voice would contribute to a swift resolution and the restoration of peace and justice in Bangladesh. The organizers thanked all attendees for their support and reiterated their commitment to standing against any political misuse of the protest's purpose. They affirmed that the fight for justice and human rights in Bangladesh would continue until their demands are met.
Solidarity with quota reform movement from Bangladeshi student communities around the globe.
