I've seen The Texas Chain Saw Massacre more times that I can remember, but until last night never on the big screen. It really is a different experience on many levels; I love the ambient score utilized in the film, and it sounded huge in the theater. To my knowledge, this OST has never been issued (it would be a good candidate for the Ephemeral Music Restoration Series), but that said, there are two related soundtracks that are available that are excellent. The soundtrack to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre asymmetrical survival horror game from 2023, composed by Ross Tregenza (with additional work from Wes Keltner) is uniformly excellent and really captures the eerie dread of the film's music. And the OST for the 2022 Netflix film is very good as well, although that should come as no surprise as it was composed by Colin Stetson. Both soundtracks are available for streaming, and the vinyl for both is available from Waxwork Records.

Broken Labyrinth's 'Music from the Vremya Institute' is available now on the SFIR Bandcamp page and everywhere you stream music.

This special release is part of Broken Labyrinth's Ephemeral Music Restoration Series, which attempts to document music from previous eras that never saw official release. Broken Labyrinth scrupulously recreates sounds from available sources to preserve unheralded but important music. On this release Broken Labyrinth recreates two songs from the 1978 public access documentary 'Inside The Vremya Institute,' which were originally composed and performed by uncredited musicians from the now-defunct WNoVA Multimedia production company.

As an exclusive bonus to Bandcamp listeners, purchasers of these tracks will receive a hi-res scan of the informational booklet that The Vremya Institute distributed around the broadcast of the documentary in an attempt to counteract negative publicity and paint its work in a positive light. This scan was painstakingly created by Sideburns & Sympathy A/V Supply from several incomplete and damaged copies of the original document, and is presented in its entirety from the best possible source materials that could be located. Also included as a bonus are still images from the original documentary broadcast.

Streaming links in bio.

Turntable Tuesday: Killing Joke – Follow the Leaders 7" [Malicious Damage EGMDS 1.01]

Found this in a used bin for like a dollar! Cover art doesn't get much better than on the early Killing Joke discography.
