7 x Mr. Olympia Phil Heath Early Days

Phil Heath, born in Seattle, Washington on December 18, 1979, initially excelled in basketball. He played shooting guard for Rainier Beach High School, winning a state title in 1998, and continued playing at the University of Denver on an athletic scholarship. After college, he transitioned to bodybuilding, quickly rising through the ranks and achieving significant success.

Heath entered bodybuilding in 2002. In 2005, he won the overall title at the NPC (National Physique Committee) USA Championships, earning the right to compete as an IFBB Pro. He won his first two IFBB professional events the following year: The Colorado Pro Championships and The New York Pro Championship.

His first bodybuilding competition was in 2003. He earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the NPC USA Championships in 2005. The next year, he won the Colorado Pro and the New York Pro Championships.

In his 2008 Mr. Olympia debut, Heath placed third. He became the first novice since 1993 to achieve a top-three finish. This performance led to his seven consecutive Mr. Olympia titles from 2011 to 2017.
