That's what I set out to do in starting the The Women's Leadership Challenge and in all of the training and speaking I do around leadership - to ideate and envision and create that new style of leadership that fosters positive impact on the world. We also heard from the incredible Lesley Richards , who has 15+ years of experience in gender integration in electoral processes, democracy building, and human rights - she was formerly Democracy International's Deputy Chief of Party in Bangladesh. Some takeaways from Lesley on getting more women in office, and increasing women's political participation in Bangladesh, that are widely applicable to the US. Establish a full roadmap to promote women's political participation 1. Provide lists of potential women candidates 2. Provide funding for women candidates 3. Engage male allies 4. Conduct study circles with women 5. Create a women's unit in the election management body 6. Create a hotline that women can call on election day and get help if they are experiencing violence that is preventing them from exercising their voice. 7. Provide funding for security for women candidates and women in office 8. When having PSAs around civic education, have women narrators and those with disabilities 9. America's war on women

America's war on women It's a worst case nightmare scenario for women in America - Roe v. Wade has been overturned. Since then, there have been a plethora of states who have outlawed abortion even in cases of rape, incest, and danger to the life of the mother. In some states, the "trigger" laws enacted date back to the 1800's, creating a dystopian future from an archaic past. Lawsuits are being filed against some of these, with a dizzingly difficult path to follow of what is going on, what is permitted, what isn't, and beyond. What is the effect that we are seeing since the overturn of Roe? What are the differences between states? What has this done to the legal system? What are the other shocking supreme court decisions that have come out, and what are those implications? What exactly does Biden's executive order do? Besides voting, what else can people do? I cannot emphasize just how serious this is- the biggest incursion in Europe since world war 2. In EUROPE. The entire liberal world order is being attacked. Furthermore, Putin has zero regard for the laws of war and is indiscriminately murdering civilians. He has no regard for human life or even the lives of his own troops. The videos of missiles striking residential buildings and homes clearly show he is targeting anyone and everyone. Ukrainians are incredibly strong people and are not going to stand down- they will not let Russia simply take them over. We are already seeing and are going to continue to see massive bloodshed. We need to ban Russia from SWIFT, and sanction not only Russian individuals but also Lukashenko and his cronies in Belarus as they are supporting and closely tied in with Putin. We should also expel all Russian diplomats from the US. We can also revoke Russia's SDR allocation re: IMF (https://lnkd.in/eBQvQVfj). And consider working with our European allies to enforce a no fly zone above Ukraine.
