The Unfiltered Lens is the Community College of Rhode Island's only student-run newspaper. It began in 2007 when students Jim Brady, Ty Duggan, Samantha Crowe, and Ian Armistead wanted an outlet for students to know about what was happening within their college. They teamed up with professor Steve Forleo and began printing the paper using the school printers and stapling their hand-made copies to

form a short publication that has been running ever since and has done nothing but grow to be a staple in the CCRI community. Since then, the Unfiltered Lens has been shuffled between four offices, and has published papers of all lengths. After the first editor in
chief, Samantha Crowe, there have been twelve EICs that have followed in her footsteps. It remains a free, independent, student-run publication, and it will continue to run as long as students continue to write. Papers can be found on every CCRI campus once they are distributed, and can also be read on the Unfiltered Lens website.
