From a once Cabela’s only exclusive Savage 112 .308 to a one of a kind 423 Cerakote and Guns custom. The 26” heavy barrel was cut down to 20” and given a 11 degree target crown. The plastic blind magazine stock was replaced with a Boyd’s Pepper laminate and fit with a Accurate Mag bottom metal and oversized trigger guard that accepts AICS mags. Cerakoted in H Series satin magnesium and outfitted with a FFP Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 scope.

Accuracy falling off on your old tried and true rifle ? Have some dings on the end of the barrel from bouncing around your floor boards ? Maybe you have a barrel that’s a little longer than you want, or maybe you would just like to tighten up those groups a little. If this is you contact us to solve those problems.

Is the crown on your rifle really that important?

Well yes ! The crown is one of the single most important things to bullet accuracy for a precision rifle. The propellent gas exiting a barrel behind a bullet can leave the muzzle at 10’s of thousands of PSI. When the bullet is inside the bore, this gas pressure is pushing on the base of the bullet very evenly because the base of the bullet forms a gas seal that is perpendicular to the bore axis. However, as the bullet starts to exit the barrel at the crown, this very high pressure gas is allowed to start escaping to the atmosphere. If the crown is not cut in a completely even radial circle to the bore, or there is a nick in the crown, propellent gas will start to leak out through the uneven (shorter) side or through the nick. This will result in very uneven forces pushing on the base of the bullet from the gas pressure as it is leaving the muzzle, tipping, yawing, or upsetting the path of the bullet.
