At the youthful age of 20, stands as an acclaimed activist and author, recognized for her impactful organization, My Roots Are Rich. Currently a junior at the esteemed Spelman College, she pioneers efforts to disseminate knowledge of African American history through her self-published children’s book of the same name. Fueled by a distinct mission to instill pride in black children for their heritage, Nyla extends her advocacy through the My Roots Are Rich social justice nonprofit, dedicated to combating systemic racism in education. As of 2023, at CultureCon, we glimpsed her burgeoning prominence as a rising public figure and acknowledged her role as a McDonald’s “Black and Positively Golden: Change Leaders,” living authentically in her purpose and effecting positive change.
