Mercury is in the heart of the sun and we are in the middle of eclipses. It feels intense and like many lifetimes are present in this one. Ask yourself, “What major life changes feel like they are demanding your attention? What milestones on the horizon that might result in a shift in your identity? How are you inspired to reinvent yourself? What are you being drawn to initiate?” These are some of the questions I am asking myself now.

An End of Summer Ritual ~
It's my favorite transition, from summer into fall. The mornings are crisp and hasty, but the afternoons are still slow and toasty. I smell change on the winds. I see the garden slowly fade.
It's bittersweet. But I can look back and be grateful for all of the plants that grew and all of the pollinators that came to visit.
As a way to bid farewell to this shimmery season in these last few days, I made a summer elixir. This elixir can be brought out on the darkest days of winter as a reminder that spring will come again. It is also an ode to all of the plants that thrived here for a few short months, but gave us so much. Crafting the elixir itself is an act of love and gratitude as we walk the fading paths, touching each pant, remembering its beginning as a seed, and its glory as a flower.
It is also a reminder to play. This is not a meticulously measured recipe to be given for medicinal purposes. This is love incarnate.
So to honor your own garden, and preserve a bit for the winter, it's quite simple:
🌺 In a mason jar, collect blooms that are still vibrant from as many of your plants as possible.
🌼 Cover with distilled water and let sit in the sun to infuse for a whole day
🌺 Strain and preserve with a bit of brandy and honey
🌼 Store for the year, until next summer season
In my jar, I have: peppermint, anise hyssop, chamomile, cornflower, nasturtium, marigold, zinnia, tulsi, and snapdragons. What's left in your garden that could be made into a summer elixir??"
