Beginning in 2023, all drivers in Ohio can now be pulled over for holding a cell phone. Not only is it illegal but dangerous! Anything that takes your attention away from driving can be a distraction, that includes passengers!

An excessive heat watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Thursday Evening. Dangerously hot and humid conditions with heat index values between 105 and 110 are possible.

In response to the heat, two cooling centers have been identified in Shelby County:
Senior Citizen Center: 304 S West Avenue., Sidney
8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Only open to those 50 years of age or older.

Alpha Community Center: 950 Children’s Home Rd, Sidney
Wednesday – Friday: 8 AM to 9 PM
Any resident needing cooled air can show up anytime during those hours. Lunch will be served during scheduled serving times for each day. They will provide water and drinks, and restrooms will be available.
