A quick hitting storm system will bring cold rain across our area today. By this afternoon/evening, snow should slowly start to mix in with the rain, first across northeast Nebraska (sometime between 3 and 6 PM), and then further southeast towards the I-80 corridor (8 to 10 pm). There is still some uncertainty with the exact time of precip switchover, and may occur 2-3 hours before the most likely timeframe mentioned above. Warm ground temperatures are also contributing to some uncertainty with how much snow will accumulate on the roads. Should the rain-snow switch over occur later in the evening (especially after 8 pm), little to no ground accumulations are expected. If the rain-snow switchover occurs in the late afternoon/early evening hours, localized areas of 3 to 4 inches of snow will be possible (primarily north of US-30 in northeast Nebraska). After midnight, any remaining precipitation across the region should be light snow showers/flurries. Snow should move east of our area by daybreak on Tuesday.

We're looking at rain developing Monday, then changing to snow from northwest to southeast by late Monday afternoon through the evening. Some minor accumulations will occur, with the best chance for an inch or more across Northeast NE. The Monday evening commute will be impacted. Dense Fog is present across the area tonight. If you are driving around, here is a reminder to use your low-beam headlights (and fog lights if you have them!) for the best visibility.
Remember to reduce speed, increase following distance & prepare for rapid visibility decreases.

Areas of dense fog have already started to redevelop this evening and will linger into Thursday morning. Visibility of 1/2 mile or less is expected before improving by 10 AM - Noon. If you are traveling, use low beam headlights, leave extra following distance, and be prepared for quick changes in visibility as you travel.

The gloomy weather will continue into Friday with a chance of drizzle or light rain. The sun returns this weekend, along with warmer temperatures. However, that will be short-lived as a weather system brings a chance of rain and snow to the area Monday into Monday night.

Your NEUSAW Girls Team of the Week is Yutan High School! Yutan had back to back tournament wins this weekend. Despite only having 8 wrestlers on the team, they won the Wahoo invite on Friday. On Saturday, they won the Platteview invite defeating 9 Class A girls schools on their way to the top! Congratulations, Ladies!
