This playful 1-year-old is Friends of the Norfolk Animal Care Center Shelter Star this month, which means his adoption fee is fully covered!
Sam loves chasing balls (though bringing them back is a work in progress), zooming around to burn off energy, and then snuggling up with a cozy blanket for some well-deserved cuddles. 💕 He’s all about kisses, treats, and having fun ripping apart stuffies.
He’d thrive in a home with older children and possibly other pets, but as always, a meet-and-greet with other dogs is recommended.

Its the first #FurryFriday of 2025! Meet Nala and Lady or Pitbull Tobacco & More pets of the week at Virginia Beach Animal Services Nala (9 years old) and Lady (6 years old) have been together their whole lives. Their journey has had some ups and downs—they were surrendered in October 2024 when their owners relocated and couldn’t take them along. After finding a new adoptive home in November, they were returned when their adopter realized they didn’t have enough time to care for them both.
These sweet BFFs are now looking for a loving home together. They adore being around people, are dog-friendly, but would do best in a home without small animals.
💖 Adoptions are just $1 all year round! Visit them at Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center and see if these two are the perfect match for you.

Currently in foster care, Simba is described as very active and playful—almost dog-like! He gets along great with dogs and would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys an energetic, independent cat. He’ll thrive in a patient home that can offer daily playtime and understands his lively nature.

Meet Cuff, Our Pitbull Tobacco & More Furry Friday Pet of the Week! 🐾
Cuff is a 12-year-old lap cat who’s been waiting for his second chance at Chesapeake Animal Services. As their longest cat colony resident, he’s as sweet and cuddly as can be—even if he doesn’t quite realize his size (he came in at a whopping 20 lbs!).
Cuff was surrendered due to allergies but is ready to find a new family to call his own. 💕 Cuff gets along with other cats including his cat colony buddies, Ollie, Steve, Dauphine and Waylon!
