I love this artwork. It is the perfect representation of the group. There were random times, reading ACOWAR, that I could hear these people cutting up around the table in my head, and I'd start laughing with them. That's how you know it's a good story - you're no longer in your world, but in the world of the people you're reading about.

"Night Triumphant - and the Stars Eternal.
If he was the sweet, terrifying darkness, I was the glittering light that only his shadows could make clear."

Synopsis:
Looming war threatens all Feyre holds dear in the third volume of the #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.

As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords, and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

Review (🚨spoilers🚨):
There are so many quotes I could have chosen to feature for this book. Rhysand's talk to the group before the battle was beautiful, but is a rather long passage. Some of the shorter quotes that stuck out are, "only you can decide what breaks you," and "you bow to no one," or when Amren tells Nesta "when you erupt girl, make sure it is felt across worlds," but we'll get to Nesta's story later, so I didn't want to focus too much on her. I feel like the quote about Rhys being the darkness and Feyre being his light embodied their relationship and dynamic, something that proved to be so essential in this story's plot.

The first third of the book was great. Feyre was in the Spring Court, making Tamlin think she went back to him when actually she was playing him. It was awesome. There were so many random times she would do something and then reveal that it was to corrupt his people against him or get inside his head and every time I watched it play out, I only felt bad for him a little because deep down I felt joy in his pain. And then when she finally went back to the Night Court, she brought Lucien with her. I love Lucien. He is so sweet and underrated, even though he might have been difficult in the beginning. I wish all the best for him in the future stories.

Once she gets back to the Night Court, she finally gets to see her fae-turned sisters and the bat boys who were badly injured in the fight at the end of ACOMAF, and she gets to see Rhysand, whom she had been communicating with through their mating bond. At this point, the goal was to plan for war and convince the other High Lords to join them and their cause. I loved getting to know all the other High Lords in this one, and seeing some more of the courts that we hadn't been able to see yet. And I loved seeing the dynamic of having Feyre as the only High Lady with her High Lord.

I also think this book really showed the stark contrast between Feyre's relationship with Rhysand versus the relationship she had with Tamlin.

So much went on in the last half of the book. There were scenes of pure war and battle and bloodshed. Several of these scenes played out in my head with the same level of hype as the Battle of the Bastards in Game of Thrones. They had to make a lot of deals with some pretty dark creatures to even have a chance of winning. And then it started to fall a little flat.

I did not give this book 5 stars. I wanted to. The ending had so much happen, and then it was all undone.

Amren died a very noble death. THEN RHYSAND DIED. I figured he would come back (duh, there are more books). But they brought him back the exact same way they resurrected Feyre in the first book. Then, boom, Amren is all of a sudden alive and well; she's just "mortal" now as a high fae. I honestly would have respected keeping Amren dead. We just had this bloody and devastating war and then it all wrapped up in a big happy bow, (except the Archeron's father. He stayed dead).

It was a good ending, other than that. We finally got to meet Drakon and Miryam, and we got some semblance of a resolution to previously established plot points. Amazing book, but not the most satisfying on the landing. ACOMAF still holds the crown for this series, but I am excited to get into A Court of Frost and Starlight to wrap things up for Feyre and Rhysand and get into whatever happens with Nesta and Cassian.

Quote: "To the stars who listen - and the dreams that are answered"

Synopsis:
After Feyre died Under the Mountain, freeing the courts of Prythian from the tyranny of Amarantha, the 7 High Lords revived her as high fae. She returned to the Spring Court with Tamlin where they were to be married - only she learns of his true nature in the planning process.

After hearing her cry for help, Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court whisks her away and introduces her to his inner circle and the hidden world he worked to keep safe for those 50 years the rest of the land was in darkness.

The group learns of a new threat to humans and fae; and Feyre, with her new powers, sets off with Rhys and the inner circle to try to stop it.

Review:
This is probably one of the most beautifully written novels I've ever read. A vast difference from the world-building of ACOTAR, ACOMAF only builds on the characters we were previously introduced to.

Throughout this story, we see a real development in the voice of Feyre. We get to learn just how strong-willed and fierce she is; and how confident she is in the face of her enemies and danger. When you mix her and Rhys they are practically unstoppable.

Now, when I say I fell in love with Rhys a lot quicker than I did Tamlin, I'm not exaggerating. I am a sucker for a bad boy and he fit the bill. Speaking of fitting the bill, though, this book had all the top romantasy tropes: enemies to lovers, one bed, slow burn - you name it. The slow burn was so slow I gave it a 2 on the spice rating because you don't get anything past witty flirtation until the last 12 or so chapters.

And those last 12 or so chapters were epic. Maas really does the epic endings and she does them well. I could not put the book down for the last part of it because it turned into one twist after another. I went through about every emotion possible leading up to that last page.

I tend to enjoy a fantasy story when I can comprehend the world and the lore, and when the story pulls me in. In this story, I feel like I got to know the bat boys, Cassian and Azriel, I saw their dynamic with Amren and Morrigan. I wanted to be in Velaris with the pictures painted in my mind. I loved Rhysand, mourned with him through his trauma, and I lived through Feyre. This book has really re-ignited my love for fantasy and fiction and I cannot wait to dive into ACOWAR to continue the story.

Quote: “Don’t feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy.”

Synopsis:
19-year-old Feyre was just a normal human girl who had to hunt and provide for her father and two sisters. When she kills what seems to be a wolf in the woods, a beast shows up to her house, demanding she leave with him to pay for the life she took. Feyre quickly discovers that the beast who's taken her, like the wolf she killed, is actually a high fae from Prythian, a land across the wall.

This beast, Tamlin, is not actually a beast at all (or, all the time), but rather one of the immortal faeries who once ruled her world. Tamlin is also the High Lord of the Spring Court.

As Feyre adapts to her new home and navigates her feelings for Tamlin, she learns of a terrifying curse over Spring and an ancient darkness that threatens the faerie lands. Feyre must stop it, or doom Tamlin - and his world - forever.

Review:
Contrary to some other reviews I have read, I loved this book. I am a sucker for a Beauty & the Beast trope and this one paralleled at every turn. This is definitely a world-building novel, and Maas beautifully sets up what she needs to continue on the remainder of the series. I read this book in about 2-3 days because I couldn't put it down. The passion, the danger, the attention to detail; all of it drew me in and it was so difficult to pull myself out of this world I wanted to learn everything about. It is an excellent intro to fantasy if you're looking to get your feet wet.
