I am so incredibly grateful that last Friday I could have Grammy winning and in my studio! I had so much fun working with them and I learned a lot. They were so awesome to work with and we were really able to push the studio to its limits and gets some incredible sounds. Ted was so funny and it was just cool to watch him and the band work. Such great songs and musicians!

I can’t thank him and Exploding Sun enough for choosing VOX to record at. I hope each of them had as much fun as I did and I look forward to working with them again!

Wow…. What a year. From being able to build and open VOX all the music that was made, the life long friends and relationships I was able to build, ups and downs, updates, learning from mistakes…. I wouldn’t change a thing.

I feel truly humbled. I can’t thank each and every one of you enough for putting your trust in me, pushing me to do better and believing in what we’ve built. This has been an absolute whirlwind of a year. So thank you so much and I am so excited to see what 2025 has in store for us!

Pumped to be able to use my new kick stand! I’ve been LOVING these stands for the studio. It’s cut the microphone stand footprint in half! Which is huge around a kit. Being able to have so much more play. Can’t wait to get more of these! VOX is run on TRIAD ORBIT😊

Ok ok last one. Haha. I’m just so happy how these turned out! I put a coat of Danish Oil on all of the poly diffusers and WOW I’m happy I did. Really brings out the wood grain and the honey color I love with maple wood. It also shows the building process (some what) lol.

I want to personally thank everyone for coming out last night for the first ever Christmas Synth Spotlight! It was such a fun time and think it was the best one yet! It’s the enthusiasts and friends that make this special and it makes me so happy to know how much everyone enjoyed it. Hard work pays off! From start to finish!

I’m so happy to have this project done! It was a massive undertaking that I had to figure out how to do it along the way. It turned out exactly how I dreamed it would and sounds AMAZING! I can rest easy now that one of the biggest updates to the studio is completed and I can focus all my attention on the next big one which is the diffusers for the live room! Making a lot of progress last night! I finished doing all of the track system, insulation and got the biggest piece of fabric all I’ve done so far on! Wow it’s turning out as good as I hoped! 😊😊😊 just got the side ends to do and the 8 inch bass trap wall/diffuser will be done!

Next up the curved poly diffusers for the live room!

I’m so stoked to have these new additions to the acoustics! Thank you MAG Custom Studio Furniture for building me these special 8” QRD Diffusers with Fractal Diffusion. Talk about incredible! These make the control room look like a cathedral! They’re pieces of art that also really help to control the acoustics.

Now I’m beginning to transform all the surrounding area of the back wall into a 8” bass trap! 😊😊😊

I’m so happy to see all the love for new release “Call Me Crazy!”. He’s a really cool artist and I love how he comes in and we just have fun putting together and recording his tracks. He’s down to try out some cool effects or sounds and anything goes as long as it sounds good. Musical freedom.

Really REALLY proud of this one! Working with Jermaine has been such a fun time. He has a sound that pays homage to the great funk, psychedelic, rock musicians of the golden era but at the same time is completely and uniquely him.

Call Me Crazy came around really organically and quickly. He started doing one thing and it just lead perfectly right into the next. Which normally means we’re doing the right thing! In just one night we had this song tracked for the most part and ready for mixing. 😊 Such a fun and great song that gets stuck in your head.

I can’t begin to tell you how amazing it was to have my first string quartet in the studio the other day! since I was a teenager I always looked at photos of the string players recording at abbey road and other big studios working on albums and films. It was such a joy having these professionals grace the doors and put on an incredible performance for my artist and good friend for his upcoming release!

Working with them was effortless and they came in and made every take incredible. I’m also beyond grateful and happy to announce La Primavera Strings are now the official VOX Studios string ensemble. If you’re like me and always wanted to have real strings on your songs look no further. I could rant and rave about them all day and night but I’ll end it with simply saying thank you and I look forward to a very long and bright future with each and every one of you!

Happy thanksgiving!!!! I’m thankful for the incredible first year open, for meeting and working with some unbelievably good clients and for my friends and family for believing in me and helping through out everything.

Special thanks to Tyler and Peter for taking time out of their day to help me hang my new clouds in the live room. Im blessed to have some really good friends. I’m SO Happy they look as good as I imagined. Hard work pays off!

Here’s an amazing video Timothy took using his drone at the last VOX Synth Spotlight! The audio is what the guys made using the Modular Synth Wall. I love how both the first and second ones ended with everyone gathering around the mammoth 😂 Thank you so much to Bryan @lootacow @vasynthsandsynthesists for helping me put all this together. MAN LET ME TELL YOU! There is no greater feeling when you finally get the drum sound that’s in your head recorded. Also please excuse my playing. I’m learning and didn’t have a good drummer in here. 😂😂😂 I’ve taken the last few days to just run a TON of experiments on my drums to find the sound I’ve always wanted. And I finally nailed it. Changed the Tom heads to the @evansdrumheads EC2S and really took my time fine tuning the drums in total. This is 💯 just the sound of my drums and the room. I’m not a fan of triggers and this is (for the most part) raw aside from general cleanup EQ and getting the right levels. I also tried a bunch of mic techniques and found putting the a mic on the batter side of the kick as well as my other two mics gives the kick a real 3D sound. Also I put a room mic facing the back wall to pick up reflections extended my room a bit more and provided more life. When someone asks me what really makes me happy I’m going to show them this video 😂😂😂 #voxrecordingstudios #voxstudios #audioengineer #recordingstudio #drums #drummer
