MAN LET ME TELL YOU! There is no greater feeling when you finally get the drum sound that’s in your head recorded. Also please excuse my playing. I’m learning and didn’t have a good drummer in here. 😂😂😂 I’ve taken the last few days to just run a TON of experiments on my drums to find the sound I’ve always wanted. And I finally nailed it. Changed the Tom heads to the @evansdrumheads EC2S and really took my time fine tuning the drums in total.
This is 💯 just the sound of my drums and the room. I’m not a fan of triggers and this is (for the most part) raw aside from general cleanup EQ and getting the right levels.
I also tried a bunch of mic techniques and found putting the a mic on the batter side of the kick as well as my other two mics gives the kick a real 3D sound. Also I put a room mic facing the back wall to pick up reflections extended my room a bit more and provided more life. When someone asks me what really makes me happy I’m going to show them this video 😂😂😂
