BREAKING NEWS: Body of missing Vian man found - A Vian man who was reported missing on Jan. 6 from his home north of Vian has reportedly been found deceased, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane.
Lane said Ryan Jordan’s body was located Thursday in a wooded area behind the house, and authorities are still waiting on the medical examiner to release the scene.

Acoustic night at Rustic Cantina - Turnpike Troubadour RC Edwards and Lance Roark played an acoustic set in Vian on Jan. 2, a free event hosted by Rustic Cantina. “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to RC and Lance for taking time out of their busy schedules to bring their incredible acoustic performance to Rustic Cantina,” Jason Carter, owner of the Cantina said. “It was an unforgettable night filled with great music and an amazing atmosphere. I truly appreciate their talent, generosity, and the memories they helped create for our guests. Thank you for kicking off 2025!”

Due to inclement weather, both campuses of Carl Albert State College (Poteau and Sallisaw) will be closed on Thursday and Friday, 1/9/25 and 1/10/25. Enrollment and advisement needs will still be met. Please email "[email protected]" for all enrollment, application, and advisement questions or needs. Interim classes will continue to operate via virtual means. Operations will resume as normal on Monday, 1/13/25.

Sequoyah County could see 3-5” of accumulating snow as early as noon Thursday 1-9-2025. Thursday night and Friday morning the temperatures will fall well below freezing. Travel will be very dangerous. Use today to get errands done. Try to prevent from needing to be out on the roads in these conditions. If you must travel on the road for emergencies, keep a full tank of fuel and a way to charge a cell phone in you vehicle for emergencies. It is strongly encouraged that you prepare ahead of time. You will be updated on road conditions as the road crews work to clear roads. Again, use today to get your last minute errands done to avoid being out driving on the roads Thursday afternoon and night if possible.
