I want to give a big thank you to all our clients who have supported us over the years. Your kindness and compassion through the closing of this chapter has been the strength we needed to keep going.

With that… Pear & Thorn is officially closed. Photo clients: we are taking down access to photo galleries so please download and archive your photos by the end of the month. Contact if you are interested in raw footage. This account will be archived/deleted at the end of this month as well.

You’ve probably noticed I haven’t been around much. So I wanted to check in and share my heart a little. I don’t like showing my emotions in my business but it’s been unavoidable recently.

In June, I completed two weekends with smashingly amazing weddings (one in Vero at Johns Island and the other in Chicago). I was home for a day when my uncle called to tell me my dad was not well.

I hadn’t seen my father in four years and only spoke with him once in that time. But I could tell from the sound of his voice that I needed to go to Tennessee and fast.

So I went. And he was clearly dying. We spent nearly every hour together until I left. We were able to forgive each other and reach reconciliation.

That was the last time I saw my dad before he passed away July 26th.

I’m in my grief. Holding my children and learning what I can from all of this. What I know for sure is that I need some changes—which I will share next week.

Here are some remnants of his life. I wish there was more. I guess we aways do.

When I do detail shots I always look to see where the light's coming from and what I can use as a natural surface. Many photographers will bring canvas to stage flat-lay photos, but I actually enjoy floors or unusual surfaces.​​​​​​​​

For instance--this image was designed on the farmhouse table in in Vero Beach. We used the veil to add some whimsical texture to help the deep jewel tones of the invitations really pop. ​​​​​​​​

There is a moment after you first see each other on your wedding day that will be different if you're working with me. We're going to meditate. ​​​​​​​​

I discovered the magic of this exercise during the pandemic. We are all dealing with huge amounts of stress. Your wedding day is one day you should be completely present in the moment. You've already done the work getting here, so it's time to pause and enjoy it.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So I will put the cameras down and ask you to hold hands. You will look into each other's eyes and just sink into your breath. I will remind you why you're here. I will help you remember the best parts of your love. ​​​​​​​​

You will be Held and Seen in a way that you may not have ever noticed until that very moment. ​​​​​​​​

There is no more beautiful way to start a new chapter together, in my mind, than aligning your hearts in this way. ​​​​​​​​

If you were watching my stories last week you may have noticed my scenery was a little different than usual! That’s because we were in Chicago for this epic freaking wedding!!

and and I started planning their wedding early in 2019 and thanks to the pandemic and the sweetest baby on earth, we pushed the big day back to 2022. It happened exactly when and how it was supposed to and it feels so SO good to say WE DID IT!!

I consider myself fortunate to serve the world in a way that allows me to share the stories of truly remarkable beings. Mary and Zach are two humans I hope you have the opportunity to know some day. I can’t put into words what they mean to me. I hope their film shares a little glimpse at least, so you can see how lucky we are to have lived in the same world as them. And Baxter. Of course.

The end of February absolutely kicked my butt. Between the whopping 6 weddings in 8 days, sick kids and computer slowdowns, I have a lot of catching up to do. BUT I’m going to start off this weekend’s media dump with this gorgeous wedding that started out the marathon week 💕

BG called me out of the blue one day. He told me he was engaged and after watching his parents' wedding film he decided he wanted a film of his own wedding to share with his family throughout the years. That conversation was in January of 2020 and their wedding was set for May 9th, 2020. We had no idea we would reschedule their date three times due to Covid.

1000 days since George proposed to Victoria, they were finally having the wedding celebration with family and friends they had waited so long for. They eloped on their original wedding date with their parents and siblings and so we found the perfect way to incorporate that day into their video. BG and Victoria's story isn't just about being postponed due to a pandemic. Their story is about how they make the most of life's ups and downs together.

Their celebration was held at the stunning Windsor of Florida Beach Club where they ran along the beach and danced the night away with their closest family and friends.

Favorite moments:
- Victoria's first look with their adorable pup Rocco
- BG's lemon + hammer tie (an homage to their last names)
- A cake face-smash none of us were expecting (4:53)
- The last scene of the film, featuring the sweetest line from BG's original vows to Victoria

Hi friends! It’s been a minute since I showed my face around here so here I am!

But I’m not just here to say hi, I’m here to lay down some truth and tell you about some changes coming soon.

If you know me you know that I March to the beat of my own drum. I meditate and read cards before weddings, I do grounding exercises with my couples before we start our sessions and I really don’t like fakery. Which is funny because I spent much of my life being fake to myself.

Due to a significant amount of conditioning and trauma that I experienced as a child and early adult life I cast myself into many roles that were not authentic to me. I thought it was safe to be anyone other than myself and I have discovered through lots of painful transformations that it isn’t. I think it’s important that the people I work with know and understand this about me.

Example: I love tattoos and piercings but I have not indulged in these forms of self expression because of fear of what other people think. I candidly tell others not to worry what other people think, and yet, historically, it’s very hard for me to show up for myself this way.

I don’t like seeing a person compromise themselves to make another person happy. I see this A LOT in the wedding environment. Sometimes it’s little things, But other times it’s as big as having a wedding at all. I’ve seen many of my couples plan an elaborate wedding when all they really want to do is elope.

And so for the past two years I’ve gone through the upheaval of covid world, trying to find where I’m landing, wondering if I can even keep doing this job anymore because of how much it actually stresses me out.

Life is too short for any of us to compromise what we believe in just to make money. It’s with this in mind that I am making a major shift out of traditional weddings.

After 2022, I will exclusively film 🎥 elopements and intimate weddings of 25 guests or less. Please understand this is my way of being more authentic not just for myself but all whom I serve.

Haley + Nate are such a cool couple. They came all the way from D.C. for their wedding at the beautiful Windsor of Florida in Vero Beach last November. The day was everything they dreamed it would be!

Favorite moments:
Haley’s bride squad was her best girl-friends from middle and high school and are also known as “The Seven”. Haley honored their friendship by bringing robes with the number 7 embroidered for each of the ladies to wear the day of.

Nate got ready with with his groomsmen and Best Woman, Maggie, at Haley’s parents’ house on the river. The views were incredible and everyone had so much fun relaxing in preparation of the ceremony.

It was Haley’s dream to one day work in the White House. Since she accomplished that goal so early in life it’s no wonder she chose to decorate the reception with nods to some of our most historic US Presidents!

TikTok Envy
Haley and one of her friends asked the DJ to play “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion. If you are at all familiar with Tiktok, you’ll likely know already that it’s trending there too! They had a MASSIVE lip sync battle and brought the whole house (clear tent 😉 ) DOWN.

But by favorite moment, hands down, is Nate’s reaction to Haley walking down the aisle. She was stunning and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them.
