Hurricane Milton info….

...MILTON RAPIDLY INTENSIFIES INTO A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE...

Data from both Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Milton has strengthened to a category 4 hurricane. The maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 150 mph (240 km/h). Milton is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.

Here's how you can prepare today and Tuesday:

1) Know your zone. Many people don’t need to evacuate during hurricanes. If you’re not in a zone that is prone to storm surge and coastal flooding, you can take precautions to ride out the storm. For those in evacuation zones, stay tuned in to what your local authorities are saying. Follow their evacuation orders! http://floridadisaster.org/knowyourzone/

2) Stock up on non-perishable food and water. Have plenty of water on hand in case water supply is compromised. This is a higher risk along the Gulf Coast.

3) Fill up your gas tanks and have an extra gas container filled as well.

4) Generator, get that fired up and ready to go with fuel. DON'T run these in the garage or near windows due to carbon monoxide!

5) Have cash on hand in case the power is out and ATMs don't work.

6) Keep phones charged as the storm approaches. Do you have extra charging bricks?

7) Keep plenty of batteries and flashlights on hand in case the power goes out. weather.gov
