April is Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month

Autism affects an estimated 1 in 54 children in the United States. Autism is very prevalent but often misunderstood. It affects many families in our community.

In support of the Autism community, the Libertyville Police Department is excited to reveal our newly designed Autism Awareness patch. These patches have been modified from the original version to incorporate the multi-colored puzzle pieces. The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum. The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the people and families living with the condition. These patches will be for sale to the public through the month of April.

To honor the autistic community and to promote autism acceptance and awareness, Libertyville police officers will have the opportunity to wear these commemorative autism patches on their uniforms throughout April.

If you wish to purchase a patch in support of our Autism Awareness Program, please stop by our Records Department at 200 East Cook Avenue, Monday-Friday between 7am – 9pm. The patches will be sold for $10.00 each. All proceeds will be used to purchase items beneficial to students with autism in Libertyville District 70. Thank you for your support!🧩
