Paper & Ink LLC, based in northeast Nebraska is seeking a full-time editor/reporter candidate to help with coverage of Paper & Ink's eight newspaper area.
Brook D. and April Curtiss, Plainview alumni, own and operate the:
Albion News - Boone County Tribune
Atkinson Graphic
Crofton Journal
Niobrara Tribune
Petersburg Press
Plainview News
Verdigre Eagle
Wakefield Republican

Current specific office vacancies include Albion and Verdigre!

The company owns or rents buildings in each of our communities to keep a local presence and operating business inside each community.
While often a challenge, it has been a tradition of the owners in each community for the last 20 years.
Mainly local, and some area and state news that matters to our readers and subscribers, operating local businesses that pay local taxes and support local causes, and local employees that live in the communities where they live, shop and work.

Experienced candidates are needed for writing, editing or pagination.
Local candidates of any age (over 18), and those with experience will be preferred.
Alumni and people that love these communities, we want to provide you an opportunity to "move home" and live in your community - just like our owners were afforded.
Local knowledge of the community and interest in the area needed. Come join a team preserving each individual community's history, and reporting on the people in the community!
Print publications are our focus, and each paper has its own website, social media (Facebook, X, YouTube) and E-Editions, all personalized to each community.
Join a team with a full time publisher/editor, graphic designers, and a number of support staff to write local stories for individual papers across the company and northeast Nebraska. Photographers welcome, graphic design helpful but not needed - equipment provided.
Be prepared to "do it all" - covering all sections of the communities - city, school, sports, business features, feature stories, calendars, and some pictures.

Candidate must be fluent with computers and general programs, cell, social media and associated products - can train.

Deadline driven, but flexible schedule is available. Evenings or willingness to carry a camera along to events are likely required. Parents with children are welcome.

Hourly wage based on ability to produce content and training needed.
Commission for all advertising sales starts at 15%, no limit.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Please send resumes to publisher - Brook D. Curtiss - via phone/text at 402-851-0009 or email at [email protected].

It appears the Eagle will be a day late this week - apologies for the delay!
We're still in the "market" for a new employee in Verdigre, and we're also searching for a location for our downtown office space.

Please contact Brook at 402-851-0009 with any suggestions!

Thanks,
BDC

Love attending your coffee group? Play cards every week? Love attending Cougar sports and events, and just love being in Verdigre?
This position is for you!

The Verdigre Eagle is seeking a nearly full-time employee (25-30 hours) to help with office work and keeping the storefront open in downtown Verdigre.
Experience with office work, organizational skills, computer skills would be helpful, but can/will train the right person. We can fit your needs!
Taking phone calls, recording subscriptions, preparing weekly pickups, delivering a few newspapers, researching "Glancing Back", attending events and games and community get-togethers, taking a few pictures and other duties could be involved. Nothing "too technical" required.

Position is very flexible - Brook and April want an employee out in the community, attending events, participating in the community and enjoying Verdigre - hours can vary depending on schedule, but would generally be Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Can work with all/most schedules - this has historically been a great position for grandparents or parents with children!

Contact Brook by email at [email protected] or cell 402-851-0009 to set up an interview or apply.

The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars have made a good first half against the Bloomfield Bees in Verdigre this afternoon, leading the football contest at the half, 16-12.
A late second quarter safety in the Cougars favor, and an attempted pitch on the last play of the half made for some fireworks before heading into the break!
