It appears the Eagle will be a day late this week - apologies for the delay!
We're still in the "market" for a new employee in Verdigre, and we're also searching for a location for our downtown office space.

Please contact Brook at 402-851-0009 with any suggestions!

Thanks,
BDC

Love attending your coffee group? Play cards every week? Love attending Cougar sports and events, and just love being in Verdigre?
This position is for you!

The Verdigre Eagle is seeking a nearly full-time employee (25-30 hours) to help with office work and keeping the storefront open in downtown Verdigre.
Experience with office work, organizational skills, computer skills would be helpful, but can/will train the right person. We can fit your needs!
Taking phone calls, recording subscriptions, preparing weekly pickups, delivering a few newspapers, researching "Glancing Back", attending events and games and community get-togethers, taking a few pictures and other duties could be involved. Nothing "too technical" required.

Position is very flexible - Brook and April want an employee out in the community, attending events, participating in the community and enjoying Verdigre - hours can vary depending on schedule, but would generally be Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Can work with all/most schedules - this has historically been a great position for grandparents or parents with children!

Contact Brook by email at [email protected] or cell 402-851-0009 to set up an interview or apply.

The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars suffered a 20-16 loss to Bloomfield after a late game fumble gave the Bees a lead.
A few missed passes and the Cougars couldn't recover in time before the final whistle.

The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars have made a good first half against the Bloomfield Bees in Verdigre this afternoon, leading the football contest at the half, 16-12.
A late second quarter safety in the Cougars favor, and an attempted pitch on the last play of the half made for some fireworks before heading into the break!

Hello Eagle subscribers!
With this as "our" first Monday, it's a Monday already!
We're going to have some adjusted or abbreviated office hours until someone locally is hired to run the office, but any submissions will reach me at 402-851-0009 or [email protected].
The Eagle will be published and come out to readers on Thursday mornings for the next few weeks at least, as staffing, logistics and processes get ironed out.
Thanks for understanding! We're looking forward to putting out our first edition!

The last issue for the Pavlik-Wessendorfs hit the mail and stands yesterday. Sending out the paper isn't difficult, but sending out the last one is hard.

We're having a customer appreciation and meet and greet of the new owners Saturday 2-5 p.m. at Wildwood Acres, so please consider stopping by.

New printing equipment will arrive at our house this week for Verdigre PrintWorks as we'll be working on cleaning out the office building for eventual sale. The new owners (Brook and April Curtiss) will be using the Eagle office likely through October and plan to stay local, keeping the 668-2242 phone number.

Tomorrow we'll be transferring ownership of all the "intangibles," including this page, so if we don't get another opportunity we'd like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. It's hard to find suitable words, which is ironic given our profession over the years, but know that we've been honored to serve our customers and our community and are grateful for the opportunity.

It's a bittersweet issue this week as it will be the final Pavlik-Wessendorf issue of The Verdigre Eagle. If all goes as it's supposed to, next week's issue will be the responsibility of the new owners, Brook and April Curtiss of Plainview.

We'll be handing over this page and other things to them later on this week, so we wanted to give a shout out before we do.

We'll still be in the office on and off through October as we prepare the Eagle office building so that it can be sold. The new owners will be using our front office through October 31 unless we sell it before then, but there's 58+ years of stuff to clear out, so it'll take awhile.

Other than that, we'll be loading new commercial printing equipment into the home office at Quimby Ave. There we will continue to print business cards, flyers, sale bills, envelopes, forms and just about anything else you can think of. It should be easier and faster than ever before and, if all goes according to plan, we'll be able to print things in house one wouldn't expect to find in rural Northeast Nebraska.

Our e-mail addresses might end up defunct, so use these to get a hold of us: [email protected] and [email protected]. Or, call 1-866-776-8975 or 403-668-2691.

10+ years commercial printing experience, we are slowly transitioning from a secondary service to a primary service.
