I’m excited to be shooting a documentary this year on a groundbreaking kelp restoration project off San Miguel Island. This initiative focuses on removing overpopulated purple urchins - one of the biggest threats to kelp forests - and turning them into seafood and agricultural products. A market-based restoration approach that helps the environment while creating economic opportunities - a true win-win!

The new pilot project will sell the problematic purples to restaurants or turn them into agricultural products.

I created this video with Ventura Education Partnership, a non-profit organization that raises money by connecting community resources to support and sustain innovation in education to benefit students. Since 1988, they've provided over a million dollars in grants benefiting thousands of Ventura Unified School District students. Amazing!
