Can't forget the 10 day! Very warm start to the workweek with cooler weather by the middle and end.

DFW is now under and Enhanced Risk (3/5) for severe weather. Showers and non-severe storms will be possible during the morning before a dryline brings additional storms for the afternoon. Large hail, strong winds and a low isolated tornado threat all possible.

03/14/2023

Here's the latest on the potential for severe weather across North and Central Texas on Thursday: Thunderstorms that develop along the dryline and cold front will have the best potential to become severe. Large hail and damaging winds are the main hazards, although tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The threat for severe weather will end as the front passes your location.

Here is your TORNADO THREAT for today 🌪

DO NOT CONFUSE THIS FOR THE OVERALL SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. Damaging winds is still and has been our main threat in North Texas. Additionally, our secondary threat is large to very large hail (>2" hail possible). However, a few tornadoes will be possible regionwide, with the HIGHEST chance being East of I-35w. There is no reason to panic, just be prepared and have a plan in place today.

[3/2/23 7:45 AM] 🚨SEVERE THREAT TODAY🚨: All of North & Central Texas should remain extremely vigilant this afternoon and evening as widespread severe thunderstorms are expected to develop with damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail all possible. Stay weather aware!

03/02/2023

Today: Slight (2), Enhanced (3) and Moderate (4) risks for severe weather across NTX. While ALL severe weather threats are possible, the most widespread severe storms will be in the Moderate (4/5) area. It is important to be aware all afternoon/evening across NTX.

03/02/2023

HEADS UP: The ENHANCED RISK of severe weather has extended FURTHER to the west.

A severe weather outbreak is likely tomorrow, which could bring numerous to widespread damaging winds, large to very large hail, and a few tornadoes, which a tornado or two may be strong.

I will have a LIVE DISCUSSION at 7:30-8:00pm (start time) to answer questions and go over the entire forecast. Make sure to join me then!

Looks like a hail event not good

THURSDAY: T-storms will develop likely west of Fort Worth (mid-afternoon), form into a line, and sweep across North Texas. DFW timing as of now 4-8pm. Main threats with that line will be wind/hail, but can't rule out spin-up tornadoes within the line.

Looks like a good week

Another push of cooler, dry air moves in before the weekend.
The Texas winter continues.

02/01/2023

There are brighter days ahead. Literally and figuratively.

01/31/2023

Tuesday is going to bring bigger problems. Widespread sleet and freezing rain will start in the morning and longer much of the day. Hazardous travel/icy roads expected.

01/29/2023

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued. Travel could become hazardous especially Monday night through Tuesday as freezing rain falls. Bridges, overpasses, and even heavily traveled roads may become icy during this time. Traveling Tuesday is not recommended.

Stay on your toes this week as the forecast is complicated and messy! But here's what things look like as of now for DFW the next few days.

I really do not want ice I want snow

In spite of the increase in clouds and some rain today, especially for the EASTERN portions of north Texas, this afternoon will be the warmest for the next several days as cold air moves in from the north and sets up camp over north Texas for the coming week.

The cold air will be relatively shallow, and this means any storm system passing overhead next week will likely bring better chances of ice rather than snow.

But just where will the dividing line between cold rain and ice be, and which side will your city be on?

Stay tuned for a tricky forecast.

01/28/2023

Next week looks cold and wet. The end of the 10 day forecast brings back slightly warmer weather.

Last week I shared this cool picture of Downtown Wylie in 1901. Over the weekend I took a photo of a similar view downtown...and I thought it would be fun to share the contrast here. Pretty amazing what 122+ years will do!
