Everything is going as forecast this morning as we'll see on and off rain continuing to move in this morning from leftover overnight storms to our west. This on and off rain will continue through midday before we quiet down heading into the afternoon. We're still not expecting any severe weather with this morning round.
Attention then turns towards redeveloping storms late this afternoon into the evening that will roll through the Region either late this evening or into the overnight hours. These are the storms we continue to think could be strong to severe locally with all modes of severe weather possible.

Good Monday morning everyone! If you joined us for our live broadcast last night, everything is going as planned this morning. A large complex of storms continues to sink to the southeast and we'll deal with some of the leftover rain on the northern end that will be diminishing in coverage. The severe weather threat this morning is zero--just some rain.
Attention then turns towards that "swirl" you see in southern Wisconsin. Depending on how much our atmosphere recovers today (think sunshine, humidity, etc.) we'll see showers and storms redevelop this afternoon across Indiana--some of which could be strong to severe. I'm still favoring the highest severe weather potential being south of us--but some models indicate it may be close to us. Bottom-line, we'll have to keep a close eye on the radar later today into this evening and we'll be doing that for you!

We need some quiet weather so we can clean up the mess last night's storms left and we'll get it. The cold front isn't through yet and we'll still run the risk of a few pop-up showers or storms, but most hours should be dry today into tonight. The cold front will then move through bringing MUCH more comfortable air with days of sunshine and dry weather on the way through the weekend!
Good Wednesday morning to you everyone--after a rainy night that trend will continue through our Wednesday morning as we'll now be on the backside of the remnants of Beryl. Rainfall amounts vary widely across the Region with anywhere from 1.5 inches up to over 4 inches of localized rain here in the Region. Northwestern Lake County has received the most with that Flash Flood Warning that was issued yesterday, but another area of heavy rain fell in a line from Newton to Jasper to Starke counties where 1.5 to 3.5 inches of rain has fallen.
Our other issue this morning is that we'll have gusty winds as this low deepens to our north. Lake Michigan will become quite disturbed with 6-8 footers expected. We could have wind gusts over 40 mph at times as this low pulls away.
A large line of strong to severe storms continues to sink south towards the Region and will bring very heavy rainfall, pockets of damaging winds and frequent lightning through the Region this morning. These storms are REALLY putting down the rainfall in a hurry! The line is getting into Chicago now so we'll track it into NWI around 8am and it will likely last through 10am or so. There are some signs that we see more storms redevelop on the backside of this through the rest of the day--but that remains to be seen--we'll focus on getting us through this initial line of strong storms first.
A large dome of heat out in the desert southwest will eventually push our way as a trough builds in the northwestern US. This will push some heat our way with the first taste of warmth on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. We'll back temps off a bit Friday into Saturday before the ridge really builds over the eastern US. Temps well into the 90s are possible from Father's Day into the beginning of next week and that will come with tropical humidity as well.
Good Friday morning everyone! Showers and storms enter our forecast today and catching your attention on radar this morning is this nasty line of storms moving out of Iowa. Damaging winds have been a big issue with this bow echo as it tracks into Illinois. We'll be keeping a close eye on this over the course of the morning--most model guidance dissipates this line before it moves through and redevelops more storms this afternoon that affect the Region. Either way, we'll be updating you on how this line evolves as we go throughout the morning. Plan for storms today!
We're expecting an active day out in Iowa, Illinois, and into Wisconsin later today as a cold front plows into our warm and rather humid airmass. It will be this line of storms that we watch progress eastward towards the Region much later today into tonight. The big question, as it always seems to be, is how well does this line hold together as it moves in? Damaging winds would be the primary risk but this line will be weakening as it moves away from the main forcing and area of energy with this storm system. Something we'll need to keep a close eye on--but just wanted to give you a heads up that it WILL be an active severe weather evening to our west!
Another day, some old low pressure. We'll be dealing with more on and off downpours today, especially this afternoon once we get some daytime "heating". Temps today will top out near 70. We'll have lingering showers around tomorrow morning before we finally clear this system out of here with sunshine expected by afternoon on Wednesday!
Our line of strong to severe storms continues to track east and will move through the Region this morning bringing a quick round of heavy rain and more importantly, pockets of strong winds. We've had 40-55 mph winds on the leading edge of much of this line and I'm expecting the same to blow through here with this line. The entire thing IS weakening slowly as it gets away from the cold front itself, but we'll all be impacted by some wind and rain with this.
Beyond this line we'll see more storms pop early this afternoon as we begin to warm up again. Any of our early afternoon storms could be strong to severe before our threat ends later this afternoon into the evening as more stable air moves in!
Day 1 of Shipshewana On the Road in Crown Point!
Seattle-like weather is on the way to northwest Indiana as several rounds of rain are expected as a series of low pressure systems move through the Hoosier State. Today looks fine with a mix of sun and clouds giving way to all clouds later today. Temps will boost nicely out ahead of this storm system with highs pushing well into the 40s this afternoon. Tonight rain will move in and will continue throughout the day Friday with temps remaining in the low 40s for highs. Drizzle and pockets of light rain are possible Saturday before another wave of more steady rain moves in Sunday--overall we're looking at over an inch of rain by late Sunday for most locations. A trip to the library to pick up a good book may be needed in the next 24 hours!
