To say last nights Night To Shine event sponsored by The Bailey Center for Special Needs - Going Beyond Boundaries was awesome is an understatement.

I wish my pictures could tell the whole story, but just look at all the smiles and the happiness on the dance floor, it’s truly amazing.

I am so humbled to be asked to be such a small part of last nights event, and after 38 years of this crazy business, I told Terry when I got home, that I have never left a job with so much love and happiness in my heart as I did last night.

A big shout out to Ricky Adams who made our VIP’s the stars of the show with his Karaoke show. If you are looking for that service, he is your guy!

Oh and check out my new DJ partner Caroline in the first pic, she killed mixing in the next song and the dance floor went crazy!!

Over 100 community volunteers helped stage this event which says everything you need to know about our community.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

Yesterday may have been the most challenging, yet the most rewarding day that I have had in 38 years of this crazy business!

The day started with the ground and roads covered in snow, so I tried to prepare by leaving an hour earlier than normal and in doing so, I came up on a wreck on our subdivision road. Thank God the driver was ok but a pole and power lines were knocked down blocking the only road out. “Houston we have a problem.”

I immediately called the venue and informed the day of coordinator of my situation, I was land locked with no way out. The staff at White Oak Manor was nothing short of amazing to work with and started on Plan C to move forward on their end. I contacted several fellow DJ’s that I trusted to do the job but with no availability. Disappointly I called the Bride and told her the bad news. I could tell by her voice that she understood but was heartbroken, I knew I had to get there somehow.

I then returned home and brainstormed with family and friends and we decided that if I could get my equipment on our boat I could go across the lake and borrow a friends truck to get to the wedding. Out of excitement we proceeded to take the equipment down to our dock to only have a “duh” moment that we didn’t have power to work our boat lift, so we had to reload it back in my trailer. On to plan B which was going to our neighbors house who had a whole house generator and use their boat, so we unloaded my equipment again, and as always Terry Moss and Patrick Moss were up to the challenge and helped me get to that truck! I am so thankful for friends like Dan and Barb Vasisko Jones, Lyn Mills who helped pull all of this off.

WE MADE IT! A boat ride in the snow, a borrowed truck, and just minutes to spare, but WOW, just look at this breathtaking ceremony pic. The smiles and cheering by the Bride and Groom made all of the extra efforts worth it.

Throwing it way back to where I really cut my teeth as a DJ. Ronnie and I had these huggies made up to throw out at the Lawrenceville Beach Music Festival back in the 80’s, how cool is this!

Sure do miss all the good times at Brian’s Steak House.

Yesterday was such a special day at Southern Grace Weddings and Events for us “locals” here at Lake Gaston as our very own “Queen of the pastries and Rockstar of Wedding Cakes”, and owner of Jenny Cakes at the Lake, married the Deputy Chief of Roanoke Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department!

The wind and cold weather threw us several curveballs, but when you are working with professional and experienced wedding vendors, there was nothing that we couldn’t handle. Jenny set expectations for every detail and I think we knocked it out of the park for her.

It was so awesome that Jenny and Dustin chose to use local vendors including Timber Waters Brewing Co., Rosemont of Virginia Vineyards & Winery, Elite Event Planning, Simplicity Floral NC, The Hen & The Hound Wood-Fired Pizza & Chef Services, and Cuz'n Kirk Experience.

I have the best wedding couples!!!

This wedding took me all the way down to The Barn at Summerfield Farms. What a stunning backdrop this venue provided and it came complete with “Billy” the beer donkey. Be sure to put a day trip to this venue on your bucket list. They have multiple events going on there weekly including food trucks, a quaint little market store and an awesome family friendly outside sitting area.

Sometimes when get lucky enough to do what you love to do, for me it’s a full time wedding DJ, the stars align perfectly to create some magical wedding moments. You see part of the wedding DJ’s job is to create memorable moments that will last a lifetime, not just play the music, anybody can do that.

At this beautiful wedding at White Oak Manor, it turned out that the entire catering staff were either retired or currently serving and protecting us in the U.S. Coast Guard, how cool is that!! And if that wasn’t enough, the Groom is not only a Deputy serving and protecting us in Hanover County but is also currently serving in the U.S. National Guard. I was able to create a few moments of recognition and camaraderie which were very special not only to me, but for the guests as well. The whole crowd was chanting USA with tears in their eyes, as the group of guardsmen sang Toby Keith’s “Couertsy of the Red, White, and Blue”

Of course the Bride was stunning, the floral arrangements and wedding coordination by The Butterfly Rose Florist & Gift Shop were both perfect, and the venue, well let’s just say absolutely breathtaking.

So Cheers to The Hoopers, not here for a long time, but here for a good time!

What a fun time celebrating the new Mr. And Mrs. Zach Currin! It was such an Honor and Privilege to be included in this wonderful night filled with Love, Family and Friends. It’s been so fun from coaching Zach in baseball to watching him grow into the fine young man he is today, and Bailey was such a beautiful Bride!

We also enjoyed a delicious meal by Hermie Sadler's Fo Sho Bar and Grille, the fried chicken was the best anywhere around!

Earth Wind and Fire’s song “September” set the stage for a beautiful wedding last night, and I will never forget the “21st night of September” in Blackstone Virginia.

The Brides Father suprised everyone by officiating a heartfelt, emotional ceremony, and not even could a flash flood rain storm stop the party!
