For many years, General Electric manufactured radios and clock radios in Utica. In 1946, production of table-model radios by General Electric began at its plant at 1900 Bleecker St. in Utica, at the intersection of Culver Avenue. Five assembly lines, with 400 workers, built the six-tube, AC, and DC radios with long—and short-wave bands.
The plants switched to smaller transistor radios. General Electric also had a military equipment branch, which opened on French Road in November 1952. Many top-secret projects were developed and produced there.

All winners must be at least 18 years old and reside in the Utica Designated Market Area as defined by Nielsen Media Research (as of 2012) unless otherwise specified in the specific contest rules. If a promotional partner is involved, winner must adhere to any rules and regulations and/or policies set forth by said promotional partner in addition to these Galaxy Media General Rules. As used herein, the term “Galaxy Media” includes Galaxy Media, its parents, subsidiaries, partners, affiliates, assigns, successors, participating sponsors, promotional partners, affiliated advertising agencies, agents and any and all of its and their present, future and former, employees, directors, shareholders, partners, agents and all others connected with them.
All prizes must be claimed in person within 30 days at Galaxy Media’s main business office, 520 Seneca St, Utica, NY, Mondays through Fridays only between 9am and 5pm, excluding holidays, unless the prize includes travel in which case, rule #9 applies. Prizes cannot be claimed by third parties on behalf of the winner. In the case of a drawing, winner must be present at drawing to win. Galaxy Media assumes no risk or responsibility for lost, damaged or misguided mail in relation to any contest. Failure to claim a prize in the specified time and manner will result in forfeiture of the prize.
Winners are restricted to winning one prize per 30 days per household.
Galaxy Media is not responsible for cancellations or rescheduling of concerts, club dates, or sporting events and will not provide replacement tickets. Backstage passes are not a guarantee of access to the artist(s).
Galaxy Media reserves the right, in its sole discretion and without announcement, to (i) end or cancel a contest, (ii) amend these rules and (iii) substitute prizes. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged. Galaxy Media reserves the right to make final judgment in any and all contest outcomes.
Winner is responsible for providing a valid, government issued photo identification upon claiming prize. Winner must sign a Prize Winner Sheet when claiming any prize. Winners must complete and sign a Prize Value Form. Winner is responsible for any tax liability that he or she may incur as a result of claiming a prize. Winners may receive an IRS form 1099 from Galaxy Media and a copy of such form may be filed with the IRS and other taxing authorities by Galaxy Media. Contestants are required to provide truthful information and Galaxy Media may disqualify any individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements or provide false information.
If prizes are claimed at any location other than Galaxy Media’s main business offices, it is the winner’s responsibility to adhere to that location’s rules, regulations, and limitations.
If a listener wins an on-air or website contest or registers at a location for a Galaxy Media contest and does not meet one or more of the above criteria, prizes will be forfeited.
If travel is involved as the prize or part of the prize package, winner must provide full address, phone number and social security number of self, and guest(s) if applicable, before trip arrangements can be initiated. Once guest name is submitted it cannot be changed. Winner will be notified of departure and arrival times and destinations and hotel confirmation numbers as soon as available but actual tickets and or travel package may not be available until the day before the trip begins.
By participating in any contest, contestant agrees to have his or her name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising, promotional or broadcasting material produced, published, broadcast or distributed by Galaxy Media without additional financial or other compensation and waives any claim they would otherwise have pursuant to New York Civil Rights Law Sec. 50 et seq. or any similar law regarding privacy rights. Galaxy Media reserves the right to re-broadcast and use for promotional purposes all or part of actual telephone conversations related to contests without the contestant’s permission or compensation. Calling any of Galaxy Media’s studios for any reason is acknowledging and agreeing that any or all parts of the telephone conversation may be recorded, broadcast and re-broadcast.
Galaxy Media assumes no liability for personal injuries, accidents, or loss of work that may be a result of accepting a prize. Galaxy Media assumes no liability for causes beyond its control, including, but not limited to, acts of God, acts of war, acts of terrorism, public enemies, civil disorder, fire, flood, hurricanes, explosions, labor disputes or strikes, and any acts by any governmental authority. In addition, Galaxy Media assumes no liability for schedule changes or abuse or misuse of a prize.
Employees, agents and interns of Galaxy Media, its affiliates, any promotional partner and co-sponsor and the members of their immediate families and/or households are not eligible to participate in or win any Galaxy Media contest. Employees of any other radio station, group, company or corporation located in New York are not eligible to enter to or win any Galaxy Media contest.
By participating in any contest, contestant releases and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Galaxy Media, its parents, subsidiaries, partners, affiliates, assigns, successors, participating sponsors, promotional partners, affiliated advertising agencies, agents and any and all of its and their present, future and former, employees, directors, shareholders, partners, agents and all others connected with them and the contest from any and all liability, claims, actions and damages related to, sustained or incurred by participant in such contest and the receipt and use of any prize awarded (if any) through such contest arising in any manner whatsoever. Participants may be required to sign a separate instrument confirming the foregoing.
Prizes are awarded “as is” with no guarantees or warranties of any kind, including, without limitation, as to use. Acceptance of a prize releases Galaxy Media, its parents, subsidiaries, partners, affiliates, assigns, successors, participating sponsors, promotional partners, affiliated advertising agencies, agents and any and all of its and their present, future and former, employees, directors, shareholders, partners, agents and all others connected with them and the contest from all liability, claims, actions and damages relating in any way to the contest, the prize, its delivery, and its use.
